I'm surprised no one has mentioned that if Swoopes is/was #2, it probably isn't a good thing.
How do you know?
Hah. Just what I thought. When does Max Stephenson submit his transfer papers? Still waiting for that.
What's the real deal with Brewer. I have read several sport sites in the last few weeks that say something to the effect, "The young QB's Swoops and Overstreet are pushing Ash for playing time". I know that's out of left field, but none of them ever mention Brewer's name. It's like he is not on the team at all. Does someone know of a transfer and have written him out already or something? It just seems strange that he doesn't seems to exist in the sports world.
Jesus was the champion of Swoopes since day 1. You have to take what he says with a grain of salt because with him, its personal. We will not know what Swoopes is at all till 2015.
The kid was what, class A or AA, played for a disastrous team, is widely accepted to be as green as grass, if he comes in as a pure freshman and displaces everyone else, I'm scared to death for what that means about the state of the team. Could I be wrong? A definite possibility, I'm not a scout. Am I actually wrong? I doubt it.
I can't say I have got this impression from any source.
But to the rest of your post, he's not as athletic of any of the other guys. Just look at our system/recruiting, he's the only non-mobile QB.
My hypothetical conspiracy theorist take is that when he got in trouble he didn't exactly eat the crap sandwich that was served to him with a smile on his face and he's paying for it more than he should. But that's just me.
Or you can take the route of he never had any QB coaching and Trent Dilfer said that if he had just a little more time to work with him, he could make a big impact. He has the tools: speed, strength, size. Major just has to tap those and develop them. Evidently, the kid is a fast learner. I don't expect him to play this year, but I'd be lying if I wasn't thrilled to see him at the scrimmage.
PM sent to you Black Shipley

Received and response sent. No harsh feelings brah.
You poke fun at Cutlip's take, but I think it's spot on.
I certainly value the hookem247 staff's take on a lot of things. But whenever they quote a "source", I bring out the salt shaker because I know I'm going to need at least a grain or two. It's hard to really decipher what "source" information is valuable in the off-season.
Definitely don't believe anything I write. Hell half the time I don't even believe it.
I hear ya, no harm done.
It wasn't from Jesus or other forums. I don't read Jesus. The last was Texas Bleacher reports. There were several other sports mags that had the same type team write ups on Texas. It's just strange that Brewer doesn't seem to exist in their write ups of Texas.
Sorry, I was not referring to your post or would I have quoted. Nevertheless, I hear ya.
He's doing much better than expected because sites like this one lowered any expectations significantly.
