For all intents and purposes he's moved up to #2 spot on the QB depth chart, though I think he probably RS's anyway unless Ash is lost for the season.
Any inside information on where the improvement is coming from? Finally healthy? Better skill around him that allows him to relax and use his skills? Coaches are stupid?
It just seems that Bobby and Gerry were ready to move him to another position before he even got on campus, and now he's the likely heir apparent to the throne.

Never bet against the big athletic kid with a big arm.
He has not moved up to No. 2. Not trying to be a jerk but he's not.

Haven't we mostly just heard that he is taking reps? Nothing surprises me about what a talented athlete can do, but we are still hearing about a lot of attempts going astray.
We are probably just hearing the process of trying kids out for the emergency position.
As long as Mack's the coach, there is no unseating Case McCoy at #2 by anyone.
Again, he's not no. 2. Is he similarly situated to Brewer and Overstreet? Yes.
His 2nd team snaps are probably zone-read related, but Case is the clear cut no. 2 should something happen to Ash (unfortunately)
Yeah, it just sounds like he is running ahead of Overstreet and Brewer, which isn't all that surprising. Overstreet was always a project, and Brewer isn't exactly a fit with what we want to do at the QB position going forward. Good on Swoopes for coming in and competing, but he hasn't passed Case.
Just like Harsin did with Ash, I look for Applewhite to have a "package guy" be the real #2 while Case remains the nominal #2 to keep Mack and Brad happy.
I'm told he's not running ahead of either of those guys. I obviously didn't see yesterday's practice so I'm just repeating what I've been told.
The only thing definitive you can say at this point is Swoopes has gotten more work than Brewer and just as much as Overstreet, depending on the day.
Beware false prophets
I don't believe anything I read or hear from March to September.
I get all the hating on Case but he is the reason that the other three can get so many reps. I would be scared to have him as a starter for a long period of time but he is a very good backup. If Ash gets hurt we have seen Case come in and win big games. Since he is not the future of the position and already has a grasp of the offence, it allows the other three to get more reps and work on improving instead of identifying right now who the future is and giving him all the reps to get him ready if Ash goes down. For the coaches its about progress and allowing the young QB's to all develop with the hope that at some point before Ash graduates one of them seperates.
"We are who we choose to be."
That being said, and back to the OP, it does appear that he has surprised quite a few with his performance and how he has looked and that there is now no thought whatsoever (perhaps too strong a word??) of him changing positions.
"For all intents and purposes he's moved up to #2 spot on the QB depth chart.."
uh... yeah... no.
Yeah, I wonder where he got this info..
I seem to recall reports on this site that he has looked pretty good...surprising a few.
Sounds like he's doing much better than many expected, including myself. Still think Case will be #2 with Overstreet running some package plays.
The same place I read it. The guy is hit and miss but he has sources. He broke the Tevin Jackson injury recently for example. I take some of what Jesus says with a grain of salt but he is right a lot too. Doesn't change the fact that I trust this site mode than any other though.
I don't think there is "no thought" of that. He has a chance but he is considered very much a work in progress.
