Well that was a fantastic start.
9 and 4 at Texas sucks!
- Jeff Howe
I liked what I saw from Carlos. He might actually do something since he's in a contract year
I was looking at the whole roster yesterday and by my guess, there are no less than 12 guys n the active who would not be on another major league team. It's just going to be a grim few years.
It is going to be more fun in the AL west.
"Cross him off then..."
I'll be interested to see if he actually produces through July, whether they can find a trade partner he'll accept. The guy seems to be content earning stupid money and playing for a bottom-feeder. And he's got like 14 teams on his no-trade list.
Similar hope for Wandy, keep that ERA down and let that trade value creep up.
It will be interesting to see how the Astros' bats fare against old man Moyer.
Bud Selig can die in a fire.
Include Crane and Drayton in that group
I just switched to the game.............if there are 10,000 in the stands I will be shocked. (Don't know what they will announce) It's a Saturday night early in the year............what will the crowd be on a week night before school is out...........
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
Now that's the way to start off a game.
I will never forgive him for making them keep the roof open in the World Series either. Not saying that changes anything but it pissed me off. He is terrible. He has to be the worst commissioner in sports.
I have the Rangers game on my TV instead of the Astros. My brother came over and turned the Yankees game on. This sucks.
Solid outing tonight from Harrell. First win of the season feels good. Now we just need 160 more.
Yes and CJ hit the ball hard tonight. Not just sitting on fastballs but he hit the curve ball to the LF wall for a double. I always thought he had the ability but had a piss poor attitude............that even seems better tonight. Going forward the big issue for this team is the bullpen. I don't think there are many quality arms there.
Another great outing by the staff today. Pleasantly surprising start to the season.
Ha I just saw on another board that this is the first time the Stros has been over .500 since 2009.
World Series, holla!
Crane? Really? You would have preferred him not buy the team, and Drayton retain ownership in the NL? Are you a glutton for punishment?
Crane had no say in the matter. If he wanted the team, he had to move to the AL. Not sure how you can be mad at him.
He didn't have to move the team period. Was their pressure applied yes...........he made a money deal not a deal with the history of the Astros in mind. As a fan that is very disappointing.
I am glad somebody other than Drayton bought the team..........but Crane is viewing this franchise as an investment only. Remember Houston residence and people who travel to Houston are paying for the stadium and making owner richer.
I understand the economics of the Astros ownership group, but to say "Crane is viewing this franchise as an investment only" is just a blanket generalization on day 3 of his first season as owner. You're positive he doesn't have any personal attachment to the organization's well being? How could you possibly know that?
You realize that mlb doesn't approve of the sale to Crane unless he agrees to go to the AL, right? So, he had no choice if he wanted to become the owner of the Houston Astros.
I still don't get Astros fans being worked up about the AL move. Not one team in the NL Central considers the Astros their rival, and unless you just despise the DH or are upset about having an additional 15 games starting on West Coast time (which I understand), this just isn't that big a deal. No one outside of Houston knows which division the Astros are in.
How do I know he has no personal attachment?
-Tried to change the name
-Did change leagues
Yes I worked in Major League Baseball...............I know the rules about the owners voting. It was a threat and if legal action were taken MLB would have backed down. He and Drayton received or split 60,000,000 because of the deal
I hate going to the American league but I'm happy we're no longer in daddy Drayton's hands. Crane took a purchase discount to move to the American league so he can suck off a Thai prostitute for all I care right now. If he doesn't spend money and we end up in the same situation four or five years from now in the American League then he can eat a bag of dicks and go to hell.

How about this, jerkoff, if you're not an Astros fan it's none of you're damn business to say Astros fans have no reason to be upset and quite frankly your nonsense doesn't warrant me wasting my time explaining.
Haha, it's so pathetic that you are mad enough about my post to resort to calling me a jerkoff. I'm an Astros fan, by the way. Nice work.
aren't gonna convince anyone with a high school education that your claim that Jim Crane has no personal attachment to the organization is legit. He said he was looking into ever aspect of the organization, including the current branding effort (which is probably horrendous outside of Texas), and quickly made it clear he understands how important the Astros name is to Houstonians. See my last post for a response to the AL change. Why would someone like him want to go through a bunch of legal bs to start off his ownership, especially when the team doesn't have a true rival in the division?
You sound desperately in need of some real life things to worry about.
You're either not an Astros fan or you're an idiot if you don't think playing both the Cardinals and Cubs are intense. So what if we're not their "primary" rival. That's like saying Texas Tech shouldn't be upset if someone to them the're being moved against their will to never play Texas again because Texas doesn't consider Tech to be their rival. More importantly, we are a National League city, always have been.
Yes he did try to change the name............
35 do you know anything about the history of the Astros? No real rival? I guess it is my imagination that the Cardinals and Cubs now and the Dodgers before had a terrific series with lots of fan interest. I travel on business to St Louis every now and then..........Cardinal fans think the 'Stos are rivals.
Last point its a shame you have to make it personal...............pardon me but I thought we were just having a debate. Its always easy to see who is losing...............they go personal
