@max_olson: Per @DaveTelep, Houston PG Isaiah Taylor has committed to Texas. #longhorns

Marland Lowe? I thought he was the coach at Texas Pro.
The dude messed up Maryland Lowe is the coach... He meant Isaiah Taylor is commited to Texas..
Ya he corrected himself.
Dave Telep @DaveTelep
Wow. A big "my bad." Isaiah Taylor to Texas. Marland Lowe was never good enough to play at Texas that's why he's a coach :)
Doesn't seem to have a lot of offers. Good role player?
Never heard of him
"I don't hate you, I'm just not necessarily excited about your existence."
Nebraska and KSU seem to be the best ones............a two star guy.
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
Seen his tape. He's legit. Plus speed and handles
If you watch his video he's better than his rankings and the offers he has. We had a thread about him on here earlier.
I trust Barnes he doesn't miss often..............I remember Royal Ivey and Kenton Paulino.
You obviously weren't paying attention about a month ago, then. I'll post a link to the earlier thread.
Here it is.
Guy reminds me of Myck Kabongo quite frankly.
Extremely fast with the ball, perhaps better court vision, good size at 6-1, maybe 6-2, skinny...needs strength work, good athlete, outside shot needs work.
I think he is 6'3"
I remember the name, but know nothing about him. I +1'd you for the link.
I usually only pay attention to the big name guys, due to me not knowing all that much about basketball.
Skinny kid, plays under the rim and doesn't have an outside shot. What's not to like.
Well just ignore the fact that he's a leader, makes players around him better and is lightning fast with the ball while still making good decisions.
I trust Barnes and staff on this 100%, but ANYONE can look good in basketball highlights. Trust me!
I take it you like him?
He does. Check out his comments on the earlier thread about how much he improved a very average AAU team.
Yet no one seemed to like him and extended a scholarship offer except NU and George Mason.
Watch the vid of the AAU game between the Houston Defenders and Texas Pro. It isn't highlights; it's the whole first half. If you watch it on You Tube, you will see a link to the second half on the right.
The kid has a lot of positive attributes. He isn't a complete player, and he and his coach freely admit he has a long way to improve on his shooting, but he is very quick with the dribble, makes good decisions (usually) when he drives, and doesn't back down against tough opponents.
Lehigh. SMU. Last I heard, Larry Brown was something other than stupid.
No, he didn't have a ton of power conference schools after him, but this late in the game for 2013, there aren't going to be many better candidates available.
I know. My statement wasn't directly tied to Taylor. Like I said, I trust Barnes and staff. It was more a warning that basketball highlights are a joke for evaluating talent. They are much more useful in football where kids don't have to play both ways, and where the action isn't continuous.
You have to see entire games to make a good evaluation in basketball. Highlights only show what you want them to show. They don't show the turnovers, the bad shots, the bad defense, the lack of effort on certain plays, the interaction with teammates, etc.
