Colt McCoy era in Cleveland is over...

  • SIAP...Big mistake by the Browns IMO....supposedly Colt could be traded as early as today...hopefully he ends up with a team that has more players around him to help him out and make him successful.

  • What a dumb move by Cleveland. McCoy is far better than Weeden and both quaterbacks can do nothing without a line and recievers who can not catch.

  • We all love Colt, but have you ever watched him play for the Browns? He doesn't look like an NFL franchise QB to me. While I wish him the best and I suppose it's possible he could still develop a bit, I wouldn't want him to be the starter for my team.

  • Best thing that could have happened for Colt. He had no chance to succeed in Cleveland with the dog crap talent they put around him. I would love to see the Cowboys pick him up cheap. Romo just isn't a clutch QB in big games.

    I really think his played suffered because he had a poor line and poor receivers. IMO he needs to be a backup for 2-3 years and then he can lead his own team.

  • i have no idea what happens to Colt now, and like most Texas fans, I am a bit heartbroken right now. But my main thought is "do these guys really think that QB was their big need? What about a offensive line? What about receivers?

    Weedon will need the exact same things that Colt needed. For his sake, i hope the Browns have a great finish to the draft.

    For Colts sake, i hope he goes someplace where he can compete and that has some decent help around him.

  • I saw him a bunch this year and he's what I expected. He's a great option as a back-up QB somewhere in the league. As a franchise QB, that exists only in his and his family/fanboy dreams. He doesn't have an NFL whip and he's not physically capable of handling the NFL beating on a weekly basis. I agree that Cleveland made a poor decision going with Treeden, but Colt just had them spinning their wheels as well.

    It's really hard to tell his potential when his team has a recalcitrant running back, receivers that are either knocked out or too afraid to go up the middle and drop throws and a line that parts like the red sea to a blitzing linebacker.

    I don't know if Colt is an NFL quarterback or not but I sincerely believe that he never had a chance in Cleveland because of their incompetent management. He was drafted by a GM that clearly disliked the coach he inherited. Said coach never wanted to draft Colt and he and his staff made that very clear by working to sabotage his career at the Browns. Then when the coach was fired Colt was saddled with a mediocre team that did nothing to help him win. Even with Brandon Weeden's superior height and arm strength the games I saw the Browns lose would have lost with Weeden too.

    I hope Colt gets traded to great team with superior management like the New England.

    Man I agree wholeheartedly... I may get down-voted but Colt has the same problem his brother has which is elite arm strength. Sure Colt has a stronger arm than Case but it still isn't what it needs to be. They said that going in to the draft and that still his issue. I love what Colt did for Texas but he's not a franchise QB..

    Now, I'd take him over TJ Yates and think he would fit very nicely in Kubiak's play-pass, boot, waggle, naked pass game.

  • What puzzles me is hearing on ESPN radio this morning that McCoy was told yesterday that they wouldn't be taking a QB, then, because they missed out on Kendall Wright, that Weeden was the best player on their board so they took him... and now they're planning to start him and trade Colt.

    Thing is, as best I can tell, Colt has looked pretty much like I expected, considering what Cleveland has. Now, if Weeden is a franchise QB, they've made the right call. But if he isn't, guess what? This management group has shown it will turn on him, too.

    You had me until the Yates comment, and I'm by no means a Texans homer. Yates has a better arm than Colt with a playoff win under his belt. Sure, he had much more talent around him, but I'm not sure Yates isn't better than Schaub as a game manager already.
