Madison - 'The news that Bret Bielema was stepping down as head coach at Wisconsin and leaving to take over the Arkansas program, left the UW players reeling.
With less than a month to prepare to face No. 8 Stanford in the 2013 Rose Bowl, the departure of Bielema was the latest hit for a UW team that lost three games in overtime and five overall by a combined 19 points during a tumultuous regular season.
According to a source close to the program, the team's six captains were determined to respond forcefully and quickly.'

The Vols need to go convince Peyton Manning to retire from the NFL before he creates permanent damage to his neck and move back to Knoxville to rebuild the disaster that is Tennessee football. Assuming Peyton has any ambitions beyond spending his fortune and a TV gig for the rest of his life.

Fulmer is absolutely gaining some steam at Tennessee and Alvarez doing this certainly doesn't hurt his case.
** Of note: Sonny Dykes (son of Spike) took the Cal job yesterday, which now leaves Arkansas State, La Tech and UTEP open regionally.

Tennessee desperately needs a crash course on how to hire a head coach. Over the last two cycles of HC search, how many candidates have publicly turned down TN? I don't think you can let that happen. It'll be a matter of time before they settle for a lesser candidate again. Shame...

There is no way Major becomes the head coach at the University of Texas without first being a head coach somewhere else or maybe (and this is a stretch) first being the sole OC for close to a decade. It just won't happen.
