Why dont they just admit they never wanted him to be their QB and just trade him away so he can get a fresh start. They got a little help with Greg Little and they Peyton Hillis situation didnt help matters at all, but after only a year in their system, they draft weeden after getting TR, get Travis Benjamin in the 4th and now drafted josh Gordon in the second round of the supplemental draft and forego their second round pick next year for him. My homerism is speaking out on this one, but I men cmon. Where was this a year ago?

We need to remember while Mike Holmgren gets credit for developing Bret Farve he was never given the Green Bay GM job because they knew it was over his head. In addition Seattle fired Holmgren was a GM (but let him stay as coach) because talent evaluation is not in his skill set. Lets also remember Holmgrem cut Kurt Warner...................therefore when it come to an ability to evaluate talent he is not Bill Belichick or Gil Brandt.

Everybody passed on Kurt Warner so you can't hold that against him without holding it against everyone else. Same goes for all the great minds that passed on Joe Montana and Tom Brady. In Brady's case Belichek too, five times.
Holmgren developed Farve, Brunnell, Hasselback and Aaron Brooks. He knows a thing or two about QBs. He may not know about other positions, although I don't believe that either, but he definitely knows what to look for in a QB.
I would argue that the Browns were so bereft of talent, outside of Joe Thomas, that the rebuilding job is much bigger than many of us expected. Although, admittedly, he's done a poor job so far drafting so far.

The reason I give Belichick credit for Brady is he (and his scouts) were the only people to even talk to Brady or the Michigan coaches before the draft. Did they get lucky when Brady was in there at 199.................yes! But what is it that DKR said about luck? Preparation meets opportunity................
I think Brunnell,Hasselback or Brooks were decent but never outstanding. The fact is Holmgren isn't a good a good player personnel guy............that is my point. I would remind Colt of this if he gets cut.

Those guys were all playoff QBs with one going to a SB and Brunnel getting to the AFC championship game I believe. (could be wrong though). Not superstars by any means but good to very good QBs for a long time .
I'm not sure how you can consider someone who got to 3 super bowls not a good player/personnel man. Obviously he had the great Ron Wolf there with him for a time in GB but wasn't Wolf gone later in MHs tenure there? His fingerprints were all over the Seattle SB team.
I'm not saying he's Lombardi or Brandt or Parcells or Belicheck or Walsh or Jimmy but he's been the HC on some very good teams and has had a lot of influence on personnel decisions

Disclaimer: I agree that Colt doesn't have anything to work with there and would hope would get another shot. I also believe from what I've read and heard that Daddy didn't help his son's cause any. And that issue could/is a big factor in all of this as well.

I still think the Cowboys should trade for Colt. I know everyone is going to say the Cowboys don't need another quarterback, which is true, BUT..... I think Colt is a better quarterback for the Cowboys offense than loser aggie Stephen McGee. But the big bonus is it would be a tremendous PR move for Jerry, and lord knows he needs some positive PR after the last few seasons. Colt McCoy, Dallas Cowboy, Awesome.

Colt didn't have anything to work with. Nothing basically. Is/would/could he ever become Brady/P.Manning/Brees/Rodgers, no. Can he be a very succesful NFL QB? Yes. Holmgren is a pathetic talent evaluator outside of the QB position. Look what happened to the Seahawks once they handed him the keys to the organization.
The 2 most overrated head coaches in football (while they were coaches anyway) are Mike Holmgren and Jon Gruden. Gruden won his title with Dungy's players and then the results started slipping.

Colt is the new Dree Brees. Somebody will wise up and see a proven winner. Hope they trade him or let him catch on with a team that knows what they are doing. Browns are terrible at these things. Heck maybe the Saints. San Diego went for size and arm strenght and benched Dree Brees. Look where it got them.
