How many commits does the class of 2013 end up with? (more or less)

I think Texas adds at least four more.

    2 OL
    1 WR
    1 DE

    **

But I think Texas is currently looking for seniors who they think are plus players. And they haven't made all of those determinations yet.

  • Can you share any insight on the next AD? Oliver Luck? & any guess on the time frame of the next AD?

If Texas takes a second QB in the 2013 class, who is it most likely to be?

The kid from Atlanta is a maybe, and that's only if Texas recruits him.

I haven't heard or seen them talking to other QBs at this time.

I don't think the next AD will be Oliver Luck. I don't think Texas plans on starting to look until next year at the earliest.

  • Distribution/access issues aside, do you think the LHN is or will be as valuable a recruiting tool as some of us assumed?

Are the recruits y'all talk to even mentioning it much?

Do u think Texas needs to start flexing it's money muscle when it comes to satellite camps and such, especially with Aggie in the SEC and doing well?

What are recruits saying about Texas these days?

Mack really likes to get kids on campus. That's always been his retort to satellite camps.

The problem with that is the younger players and those without the money to get to Austin are ones Texas is missing out on.

Oklahoma State, for example, has probably seen and had more quality 2014, 2015 and even 2016 players from Texas in their satellite camps than Texas has had in its camps in Austin. Same can be said for state-wide camps of Baylor and TCU.

I just think Mack's former idea about satellite camps is antiquated in this day and age.

He has said it's something he wants to entertain going forward. But until I see him pull the trigger and get out there, I don't know that it will happen. Texas really needs to start getting out there. East Texas, Houston and Dallas for the young kids or else it's going to be tough identifying the best players because the best ones aren't going to Longhorn camps right now.

  • Outside of Benenoch , Billings and Harrison can you give us a name which Texas has a good chance of getting for '13 Class ?

    velnias2011

  • Is Benenoch being recruited as a Guard? If so, do y'all Mods believe he has the mobility & physicality to be a plus player there?

I think it's been overrated from the start and said as much at the time.

Outside of the kids liking it when they're on campus, unless a recruits mom and dad can see it on their TV in their homes, there's very little value to extract in recruiting.

That being said, I think there was a little pop at the outset. It's just now I think the value has been mitigated by distribution difficulties.

And I think restricting three games a year to the LHN is moronic at best. ESPN created absolutely ZERO additional leverage by having a third game on the LHN this season. That was a very poor decision and it was one that was aided by the athletic department, which I find even more difficult a reasonable person should have advocated.

    Think about this...

On a weekend when the rest of college football watched Johnny Manziel, 95% of die-hard Longhorn fans had no way to watch their Horns on TV. Couldn't even get them ANYWHERE!

That's absurd. And that's the way you lose market share as a program, not gain it. Silly.

  • Bobby,

Does the big 12 expand in the next 1-5 years? If so, who would be the teams that make the most sense?

I can't see us staying a ten team conference forever.

Assuming Kendall Thompson comes back, rank the LBs in terms of expected playing time for the TCU game. Also, do you expect us to keep the nickel as our main defensive alignment against TCU?

    1. Edmond
    2. Thompson
    3. Jackson - dime
    4. Cobbs - dime
    5. Jinkens - spells KT
    6. Santos - spells Edmond

Yes, I expect the nickel to be the main alignment.

I'll be interested to see if TCU tries some two-back looks against the Horns and how the Horns play that.

    Not currently, no.

Texas is just now finalizing looks at seniors and going out and seeing them in person this week.

So I suspect that will change in a week or so.

  • Outside the program questions...

Are you hearing anything on the Oregon investigation? Could that have the same impact on various "street agents" as the info that came out against Willie Lyles?

& based on anything you've heard, do you expect Kiffin back @ USC?

I continue to hear positive reviews on Hassan Ridgeway, Caleb Bluiett, Adrian Colbert and Bryce Cottrell.

Curtis Riser has been mentioned as someone with a lot of potential but needs to become more consistent.

Of the players who are currently playing but not seeing a ton of time, I hear that Kendall Sanders has a chance to be an extremely good football player.

I can't see us staying a ten team conference forever.

Outside of Louisville and BYU, I don't see any truly viable alternatives for the Big 12. So that being the case, I think it's unlikely.

  • Who can we except to enroll early this year ? Who can we expect to transfer out of Texas ?

Nothing new on Oregon. I think they're going to get hit harder than they think they will. It was willful infringement and an attempt to cover up IMO. But we'll see. The logic of the NCAA never ceases to amaze me.

I think it's less than 50-50 that Kiffin is back next year. The lack of reassuring statements by Pat Haden says a lot to me and it's something folks I talk to in LA mention as well.

I've heard they both have struggled at times. With Brewer, it's athleticism at this level. With Overstreet, it's accuracy.

Overstreet could up and move to LB this spring and I wouldn't be surprised. He could also be a three-year starter at QB and it wouldn't surprise me much either. I just think he's a plus-athlete and they have to see if and when perhaps the light bulb will come on for him at QB and if he can then put it all together.

Is Bluiett working at TE or DE? Also, do you think Colbert stays at safety or does he spin down to OLB.

I can't quite figure out the best QB of the 2 for Harsin...I wanna say Overstreet because of the + ath & arm strength & Brewer just feels like a spread offense QB to me...

    Thanks for all the info

I'll leave the early enroll question to Jeff, Gerry and Blake.

    Here's a "potential" transfer/attrition list as I see it:

    - Trey Graham
    - Aaron Benson
    - John Harris
    - Kyle Kriegel
    - Thomas Ashcraft
    - Taylor Doyle
    - Chet Moss
    - Miles Onyegbule
    - Marcus Hutchins
    - Garrett Greenlea
    - Leroy Scott
