Case *NOT* closed for Jordan Hicks *2nd Update : 6:15 PM

  • @KEYESportsBob: Just received statement from #UT LB Jordan Hicks attorney. No charges will be filed against him or anyone else. Investigation is closed.

    *Update*

    K-eye reporting its not closed

@keyetv: UPDATE: San Antonio PD says case against #UT LB Jordan Hicks is not closed. Hicks' attorney says it is. was.http://t.co/yvASvsEr"

    Mike Finger ‏@mikefinger
Asked if Hicks' lawyer is lying, SAPD spokesperson says department will have no comment beyond statement that case is being reviewed.

    From the AAS article
"Their statement, from a SAPD spokesman: “In light of the media inquiries into the allegation of a sexual assault that took place in the early morning hours of December 28, 2012, in the downtown area, the San Antonio Police Department’s SVU (Special Victims Unit) is still reviewing the case.”

The spokesman said an update on the case would be sent out with any future developments."

6:15 PM update from Adam Winkler, Sports Reporter with Keye

    Adam Winkler ‏@WinklerKEYE
Just spoke w Case McCoy's attorney. He, echoing Hicks' lawyer, considers the S.A. sexual assault case closed. #Longhorns

    Via Adam Winkler's facebook page

I just got off the phone with Case McCoy's attorney. He confirmed that his client was, indeed, being investigated for sexual assault in San Antonio. However, per a conversation with San Antonio Police Wednesday afternoon, the lead detective for SAPD told him that SAPD will recommend to the District Attorney that no charges be filed and that the case be closed. When I asked him if we should expect McCoy to return to UT this semester, he did not give a direct answer - only saying, "I would assume, now that the matter is closed, he would go back to a normal student life."

  • Good for Jordan & Case...now let's see if either or both are around for 2013

  • Pretty sweet, now let's see what Mack does.

Still hope Case leaves the program.

  • Glad there's closure, at least insofar as this element goes.

Now focus on football and live up to your hype and expectations... Case - you can be a starter at Odessa Junior College. Hit the road, and take your "leadership" with you.

  • Good to hear. I fully expect Hicks to be back and Case to have the option to as well.

Do they have a HC opening at Odessa JC? Maybe Case can take Mack and his "leadership" with him too. I'm sure you would be against that though right? Seems to me that if you're calling for Case to "hit the road", you should be saying the same about Hicks. Both were in that room when they shouldn't have been and both exhibited poor leadership and most of all, poor judgement with respect to their actions. They created a huge distraction for their team. Both are at fault here Chupata, even if charges are not filed. Case should have the right to come back if he wants too (assuming that decision is based on this event). Maybe he won't with our move to potentially bring in a Juco QB, but whether he returns or doesn't should have no bearing on this incident, unless you apply the same standard to Hicks.

Actually as a senior in eligibility, it is doubtful he has JC eligibility left.

  • Would be very helpful to have Hicks back on the LB corp/unit. Silver lining is several young pups got a lot of reps, but they all must get stronger and have better LB coaching with regards to taking on and shedding blocks. Hicks can make the calls which was obviously a huge loss when he went down vs Ole Miss.

I wish the best for Case no matter the outcome. If he stays, great and we can use the depth based on his saving us vs KU. If he shuts football down completely, he'll always have 27-25 and we should be forever indebted.

Overall very good news. Too bad these kids got so much publicity that wasn't exactly positive for them or the program, but time heals all wounds...... along with some quality Wylie time.

Great news! Hopefully Hicks gets a medical redshirt as well.

    Uhhhhh, no.

As strange as it may sound now, our defense and special teams won that game. Not Case McCoy.

You want to make one player on the team a hero from that game?

He would have to stay around for a 5th year, and if he lives up to his hype, and plays injury free next year, he might just head to the NFL.

No reason not to apply for it now, even if he doesn't end up using it.

I thought you couldn't apply for it until your eligibility was up. DJ Grant is probably the only one that could be granted a 6th year at this point.

  • I tell you what. That Case can sure play some QB. We would be at least two losses down without him. Seventeen pass completions in a row against Kansas State. Only brother Colt has ever had more (18).

You're just talkin' about a quarterbackin' dude. Great feel for the game. Just a huge asset for Texas. Backup QB is the second most important player on the roster for injury cursed UT. Way, way better player than Brewer. Lot stronger arm. Much better instincts and competitiveness. Better scrambler.

youre thinking clock extension (6th year). you can apply for a medical redshirt at seasons end if you played in 3 or less games, they were all before the half way point of the season, and you haven't taken a redshirt in a prior season (e.g. mason walters a couple years back).

  • Hold on everyone. An SAPD spokesperson says that the investigation is ongoing. It is NOT closed. So the case continues despite what the lawyer is claiming in his press release.

Apply after eligiblity is up is for 6th year only. Redshirt medical can be requested the year of injury
