I don't buy that line about the ball slipping one damn bit. The replay from the end zone cam showed Jaxon raising his hand (I have no clue why, he was not open) and then Case immediately chucking up a wounded duck right in his direction.
I mean, I get why he would lie about it. I wouldn't want anyone to think I threw a pass that looked like that on purpose either.
And Case will NEVER be "beyond" that type of throw. That's just the kind of QB he is. He's going to take risks and he doesn't have the arm to back those risks up 90% of the time.
I don't buy it either. It didn't look like it slipped. To me this kind of feeble excuse making sounds just like lying. I feel that way about a lot of Mack's excuse making. I think it's true what they say - teams take on the personality of their coach. Just another way in which he is a poor example for young men.
On the other hand, I like the way Case usually plays, with energy and confidence. I can't defend that throw, though. Irresponsible, really. On first down, no less. I think Case is better than that. Just my opinion.
What a terrible performance by our entire football program. Lots of shame to spread around. But most of the shame goes to classless Mack Brown.
