Case McCoy

  • If he doesn't win the starting job, he needs to redshirt this year.

He lost a year last year for absolutely no reason and needs a year to grow physically.

Unless Case is hands down that much better than Wood, he should sit out this year.

  • Sucks to say,but he should transfer if he doesn't win it. No way he is better than Connor Brewer AND David Ash.

  • no way he sits..., no way he should transfer. In the end , he believes he will play in the nfl. Why would you leave a team and group of coaches for a second tier'ed school. He has the best teachers of the game here...Even if he sits, he can learn and practice...and be light years ahead.

i predicted 3 months ago that i believe Case was the best fit for a harsin offense for this Year. Next year maybe a totally different scenario.

I think Case has it upstairs to make the reads...react...and drive the bus.

The QB situation is fluid. Look at Applewhite his RS Fr year , he was 3rd string....and eventually led us to victory agaisnt OU.

IF Case has the same talent as Applewhite....and has the similar QB intelligence, then I am say go with Case.

If there is anyone going to transfer it will be Woods. It would be a mistake by both Woods and Case to transfer, and not learn from a Harsin and Applewhite.

  • I think Case gives us the best chance to win this year. However, his footwork is going to lead to interceptions and will cause at least 1 or 2 losses just in and of itself. If he gets his footwork fixed, I think he has the chance to be an excellent college QB.

  • If this were the NFL I would agree on the footwork thing. This is CFB and plenty of great players have flaws in their mechanics or skill set by NFL standards. In CFB you can overcome any number of shortcomings to be an all time great. Just look at Floridas QB production over the last 20 years vs what they got out of them in the NFL. Look at Bernie Kosar, Gino Torreta, Byron Leftwich, Andre Ware all players have what would be considered major flaws by scouts. What matters is leadership, decision making, timing and accuracy combined with the system they are in. It is funny to me how footwork became the word dejour on Case after the Spring game just because the announcers needed something to say. Our fan base ate that crap up.

I do not have an agenda. I do not care which QB lines up for the Longhorns this season. I care that the QB that lines up produces and is actually the best option for our team. If it is GG, Case, Wood or Ash I do not care.

  • The footwork is a major issue... we're not talking about a slow windup which is slow, but ultimately still accurate. That can be made up with by good awareness and anticipation. When you throw off your back foot all the time, it will lead to bad throws, even when he makes the right reads and does everything else perfectly. It will cause interceptions. This is a major, major mechanical issue. Bad footwork will throw off everything else that he does well. It's trying to build a house on a shaky foundation.

I still think he gives us the best chance this year without improved footwork. But if he can improve his footwork, he has a chance to be really good... at least in college.

  • Plenty of successful qbs in CFB have bad footwork. I am pretty sure the coaches work on it with him, his brother works with him his dad works with him. His footwork will not be why he succeeds or fails in the program.

BTW, footwork is one of the easiest things to fix.

  • We're not talking about poor footwork, we're talking about fundamentally flawed footwork. If it's easy to fix, hopefully he makes it a non-issue and fixes it. I am concerned, however, that he still does it considering who his coach was and who his brother is. Why does he still have such an obvious flaw with those kind of football minds around him?
