Brenham Duo Update

There seems to be some confusion about A&M and the number of linebackers they are recruiting. A&M now runs a 3-4 defense and has four linebackers on the field. Two of those linebackers play the inside linebacker position. So far A&M only has one commitment at inside linebacker, which is one less than Texas....Texas has two inside linebackers committed for 2012 to go along with the two inside linebackers signed for 2011.

Malcom Brown is a special talent as a 3 technique that can also play across the defensive front - great feet, explosiveness, strength and instincts. The big question is whether he'll maximize his talent potential - is his cutting up before games and during practices and workouts a form of immaturity he will outgrow? If he can get his head on straight and take every aspect of the game (preparation namely) seriously, he will be a Sunday player and an all conference guy for 2+ years.

Great, just great. So every Saturday night when Gerry gets liquored up, I am going to be given false hope that Cole and Brown have committed? Not sure I can take the roller coaster of emotions.

Right. But we're recruiting him for an OLB position in a 4-3 which is a much more natural position for a player of his skill set and size to play than ILB in a 3-4.

I think that Jenkins is an edge guy all the way, for that matter De La Torre may be as well. Edmond is clearly an inside guy but I would think that the other two will get looked at as sam/will backers.
