I want to say this. Lost in all of this is Mack Brown. What does that say about Mack Brown?

Most people probably thought Duane was dead to him or something. Just real interesting at a very basic human level.

A lot of people put egos aside here, Mack and Duane at the top of the list and quite frankly both are going to be better off for doing so. Because I have a social disorder and my mood depends on how a bunch of 18 year olds play a sport, I'm going to be better off also.

  • Hmm. Certainly a very good development from a coaching standpoint. Don't think anyone can take serious issue with Akina being a great DB coach, and a good recruiter. As much as I am happy for his return -- but given the wild ride of coaches coming and going in the past months who knows what is going to happen next week -- isn't this the same bad karma stuff and "a man's word is his word" stuff that so many seem to be unhappy with Jerry Gray about? Wonder if we'll ever know the real story, and making decisions for family is obviously important, but why did he take the Arizona job in the first place? Hook 'Em!

Was this just a situation where Coach Akina had buyer's remorse? Or did Arizona/Stoops not deliver on something that was promised?

The whole situation is just bizarre.

This tells it all, just another stoooops.

  • I love it. Akina did a helluva job for a lot of years. I hope 2010 was just a function of the "chicken little" syndrome that permiated the whole football program. Anyway, glad he's back.

  • I know its already been said in the thread, but kudos (again) Bobby for nailing it yet again.

I would have never thought it could work for Akina to come back, but when you posted the list the other night with his name it, I actually thought, I bet its Akina - Bobby knows something...

Congrats on sustaining your ridiculous momentum through all the coaching changes, junior day commits, etc. Love it.

  • Wait a minute. Why isn't he the biggest traitor since Benedict Arnold? Is it just hunky dorey if UT benefits from a coach changing their mind? I mean WHERE IS THE HATE, MAN??? He oughta have his scrotum dipped in honey and have a thousand fire ants poured on his crotch!!! I'm gonna roll his house!banghead

I hope he learned some juicy tidbits about the way the Stoops Bros. do business. Was this all a covert op and JG's tenure a cover?

Mack learned the move from the Godfather. After losing Muschamp, his successor, he called a meeting of the remaining Big 12 teams. He didn't know until that day... it was the Stoops brothers all along.

  • And just when things were starting to look bad with Jerry Gray leaving. This is the greatest news. Welcome back Duane.

Duane Akina is returning to Texas after a one-month stay at Arizona.

Is there a back story brewing here? How did his name come back on the radar so fast. I know, I'm just "a little late" to this party. I've been reading from the peripheral for quite a while now though. lurk
