Akina is blameless here. Mike Stoops pulled the co-DC tag Akina was thought to have had as well in the middle of the process, Akina tried to get back with UT but it was too late - Gray was already offered the job. He was on shaky ground with AZ to begin with, and knew he had made a mistake

That's what I thought too but Bobby indicated otherwise. He said it had been mentioned but nothing solid in the offer.

Stoops talked about a co-DC at one time. But when Duane accepted the position he knew that wasn't on the table.
Duane obviously has made a decision that Austin and Texas are ultimately the best place for he and his family.

I want to say this. Lost in all of this is Mack Brown. What does that say about Mack Brown?
