Not to start this argument again, but Recruitocosm also put something up similar to Lance saying that Mack told all his coaches except Major, Will and Giles to start looking for new jobs after the A&M game.

Interesting situation. We feel Gray was the devil and now, Akina is a saint..........they both did essentially the same thing! we are a confused lot!

This confirms he and Mack left on good terms. The understanding was that he wanted to ascend to Arizona DC and eventually Hawaii HC. It wasn't likely to happen at UT, so it was said everyone thanked him and wished him luck.
I wouldn't put Akina's departure in the same category as Gray's by any stretch of the imagination.

I joined this site to keep up with the inside scoop. I mean, everyone is authorized an opinion, but to read this and that and that and this, cheese should be offered. Welcome Home, Duane Akina, the Texas High School juniors and seniors to be may be initially confused but at the end of the day, they will feel elated to stick out their index finger and pinkie and say Hook 'em Horns...Thanks Bobby and gang.

If he thinks he's head coaching material he's delusional. Job title in 1982: DB coach. Job title in 2010: DB coach. How many people's careers suddenly take off for the moon after 28 years?

I'm thankful that we do not have to endure another round of FlightAware tracking or Jeff and Dave eating cold boxed lunches behind the ATX landscaping while sub-contracting the local TMZ photographer. Almost forgot, should also save some $ on the misc category in the Hookem247 budget this month because Alan will not have to bribe pilots for secret access to the Big Cigar's G5.

I'm sure that the AU fans feel like we did on Saturday. The only difference that I see is that Gray didn't try to back out of going to Texas at the last moment but told by Carroll that it was too late because his spot was filled. For an AU fan it must sting more since he took a lateral move. Bobby's comment he made the other night was spot on - to paraphrase "every Texas staff member would leave if they were in Jerry's shoes". It maybe true but it doesn't make it right - at least not in my book. It's obviously much easier for me to swallow when it benefits my team though. I'm sure that Akina has burned bridges at AU at this point too.
