Considering the the top 25 brought in somewhere around 500 true freshmen last yr, your list does not put much of a dent into the theory that true freshman rarely make big impacts. Everybody understands that there are exceptions, but does every statement on the internet have to be countered by the random anomalies? Survivor bias thrives on the internet

If you re-read my initial post, I never said anything about it being a crazy prediction. I know Aggie should be a top 5 team, I simply stated that it's sad that Bohl's is writing this campaign for Aggie to be the Pre-Season #1 in the Statesman. As another poster mentioned, this guy should pack up and move to B/CS to write for the Eagle...

Teams expect their top recruits to come in and make an impact during their freshman year, especially guys like Nkemdechi and Treadwell. There are plenty more guys than I listed that make an impact during their first season, I'm sorry that I don't have the time to look at every freshman in the country. Just take a look at the freshman who've played at UT in the last couple of seasons. Diggs, Daje Johnson, Gray, Malcolm Brown, Malcom Brown, and Peter Jinkens are just a few off the top of my head. You're seriously underestimating how many freshmen contribute

Amari Cooper was an impact player this season, but I certainly wouldn't say any of our true freshman that you listed should be considered truly "impact players" in their first season. Johnathan Gray, with his 700 yards on the ground is a maybe, but not any of the other guys.
I understand that with the amount the hype each of these players received during their recruitment, it's difficult to see them as anything but an automatic impact player, but the reality is that rarely does a player's production come anywhere near his recruiting hype.

Ole Miss desperately needs talent on defense. Nkemdiche and A. Cronner (assuming they land him) should have great opportunities to start as true freshman. Ole Miss also needs a WR opposite Moncrief. Treadwell should have a great shot at starting as a true freshman. When talented freshman step onto campus playing a position that the teams needs help at, they have every opportunity to play a big role. Aside from DGB, those guys you listed were behind some very talented upperclassmen

Those 4 I listed happened to be the top 4 players from 2012 class, and none of them red-shirted. I'll leave you to look up what they produced on the field last season.
If you've been following recruiting, then you should know that just about NOBODY lives up to their recruiting hype, at least his first year. In any case, sorry for trying to piss on your parade. If you want to enjoy good recruiting drama, knock yourself out. Don't let me stop you. To me, believing in recruiting hype feels like celebrating your new found fortune simply because you bought a lotto ticket. Why not let these guys get on campus, go through a practice or two before we crown them as the next savior? How many 5-star guys do we have to see fail before we start viewing these rankings with a grain of salt?

Having the best player on the field doesn't, by itself, give rise to a presumption that you should win every game.
Baylor had the best player on the field in 2011 and lost three games, including one to a 6-6 Aggie team.
Florida had the best player in 2007 and lost 3 games.
Johnny, as great as he is, doesn't play defense. And objectively speaking, the defense should take a step back.
Lets not kid ourselves; you agree with me. That is, we probably shouldn't win the title. You're advancing that not doing so would be some total travesty because you'd enjoy watching that unfold while claiming "same old Aggy."
