Bobby: Big 12 Expansion Committee meets next week

You forgot the main course. . . .Don't fiddle too long with the appetizers.

    14 X 34 million = 476 million annually . . .That is serious money.

$34 million per school is a nice chunk of change, but that includes Tier 3 money. If you include Tier 3, Texas will earn the same from its TV contracts this year. If you add the extra money per school in the Big 12, then Texas is above the SEC schools. Texas is not afraid of the SEC, but it has learned from its SWC experience that it is best not to associate with schools that bend the rules. Eventually they get caught.

Just not true. Nobody in NYC confuses Texas with Bama. They may believe all Texans have horses and guns, but they do not associate Texas with the Deep South. I lived in NY a longtime. You are just not accurate on this post.

I have traveled across this country nearly everyday for close to 12 years now and my experience has taught me differently sir. Texas has most of the same stereotypes as Bama,GA,TN,etc.

  • I dont know if you are a truck driver as well, but you are spot on. Not one single day passes that I dont see Longhorn decals on a few cars or license plates, I dont care what part of the country Im in. I also see Longhorn gear sold in at least 75% of the truck stops Im in and again, dosent matter where Im at, and Im out closer to and maybe a touch more than 300 days a year. A&M will never grasp how inferior to Texas they are on a national scale.

  • The B12 better get aggressive in a hurry or there wont be a B12 in a few years. All this "we are fine with 10" crap is just bullcrap. IF the conference wants to stay visible and relevant, it better put some offers out before there are no more teams to offer.

Dodds needs to shut up and let this thing grow back to at least 12. Make VT, CLEM, FSU, UM, BYU, PITT, GT and whoever else tell us no instead of waiting around to get the scraps.

There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.

  • Big 12s biggest problem right now is not 10 team or 12 teams, it is OU and Texas. When the 2 flagship programs are not perennial top 10 teams the league looks down. Big 10 has been facing that with Michigan and Ohio State. I think there are many long term issues the Big 12 faces, but the biggest short term hurdle to perception is Texas and OU not performing to historical expectations.

Agree with Bruthaman here. Dodds has not only created a losing situation within his own athletic department but seems to be contributing to dumb decisions that could ultimately bring down the Conference.

I am dumbfounded how inept Deloss is. But, the powerful are not always credible and effective.

You're missing the point. We have very good relationships with those schools and they have some very powerful people still politically. That's just another reason why tamu being able to leave was a huge hinderence for us because it just made the anchor heavier. We're the flagship school. We can't do what tamu did. We have more power and funds so we will have pressure to keep Tech and Baylor at our level.

Tamu made some enemies politically but they had the governor in their corner. They played their best poker hand ever and the best time ever and cashed it in.

Also, Deloss is from K St, he will not leave the Kansas's, Iowa St's, etc in the learch. Another reason we have not left for another conference IMO.
