Bits of Big 12 Basketball news

  • ISU closing on Matt Thomas (6'3"-6'4" SG, ESPN 84th overall, Scout 87, Rivals 131) for 2013. He's down to ISU or Virginia. Interesting pair of finalists for a guy from Wisconsin who had offers from Wisconsin, Marquette, and Minnesota.

He's not especially big and might not become a huge threat to break down a defense from the perimeter, but he is a very good outside shooter who is comfortable with either hand in dribbling and shooting layups.

Bedore is suggesting both Anrio Adams and Milton Doyle will be joining the KU freshman class. I don't see how that's possible, but if they do, that should surely scotch any plans they migth have to acquire Markus Kennedy (Villanova) as a transfer. Ellis, White, McLemore, Lucas, Traylor, and Peters make for a very, very strong and deep class to which is added walkons named Manning and Self and one of the two SG in question.

And in news of former Big 12 schools, a guy who flew around with the Missouri basketball team has been indicted on federal drug charges. Maybe it's a good thing Missouri has gone to the conference that is more lenient regarding wacky weed.

  • Anrio Adams committed to KU quite awhile back, I just don't believe he ever signed.

Yes,Adams committed back in January and was waiting for his scores, which didn't come back until the spring signing period ended. Meanwhile, KU brought in Doyle and told him "thanks, we'll let you know in the future" or something similar. It appeared that Doyle was only a fall back plan if Adams couldn't qualify.

So I think Bedore is just wrong about both of them winding up in Lawrence, but he's a lot closer to that situation than we are, so I guess we should pay some heed to his projections.

  • You would have thought Frank Haith of all people would have increased vigilance as to who was flying with the team and getting tickets to games from his players. After going through the Miami mess its amazing this happened.

    Penn St & its problems

Auburn has human & tree killers on campus...& the FBI dealing with possible basketball point shaving

Missouri with the FBI arresting a man "associated" with its basketball team

Seems to put street agents & academic issues into relevance...Think I'm gonna apply @ the FBI as a Field Agent covering NCAA stuff

I heard recently that the tree was getting better, so, they have that going for them.

  • Darrell Williams's trial has been pushed back again, but this time the delay is only 1 week. This makes me think it really will go to trial or be pled out at that July 9 setting.

If Oklahoma State gets Williams back, having him as a board beast will make it a very dangerous team. I don't know how well Nash and Smart will get along on the floor, but the Cowboys definitely bring weapons on the court next year.
