Big 12's Best: Running Back

Hookem.com continues it's look at the best players, by position, in the Big 12 Conference in 2012. Today, we look at the league's best running backs.

  • Good list, although I think we'll see Malcolm take over #1 in Big XII this season if he can stay healthy. Joe B is going to soften up a lot of teams with his power, and MB's vision will allow him to capitalize on those lagging defenders.

Adding J Gray to the mix is the only reason MB won't get close to 1200 yards if he stays healthy

  • Texas will have three backs on that list next year, combined with 2 in the top 4.

Agreed. He was on pace to get 1200 last year before getting injured. With a better offensive line and a more honest passing game, it only a matter of getting the carries and staying healthy.

  • Am I the only one that thinks Randle is going to have a dropoff in production without Weeden-Blackmon?

  • Nope.

  • The best running back in the Big 12 is Jonathan Gray,(said James, got to beak that habit) not even close.

Are you celebrating 4/20 with a large joint?

  • James Sims is a good back on a terrible team. I like him a lot.

Still in high school. Does not count.

The No. 1 spot at the end of the season will probably have a lot to do with what happens in Stillwater this season. Randle has the potential to be the top back, but the question will obviously be whether or not he can have as big of a year without Weeden keeping defenses honest.

I wouldn't be too shocked if, based on what we've seen/heard this spring, Bergeron is the highest ranked Longhorn on this list come December.

Very possible. And if it does happen the Longhorns will be looking at a return to the 10-win club.
