All good questions but I was thinking more about what effect it would have on realignment.

I think the college football landscape is about to look a lot different.

If that is true: The Big 12 will make a lot of money because if they bid out the semifinal games and we are paired with the SEC champs then that would be the marquee match up the TVs would want and the bidders will wage war on those rights. Keep your enemies(SEC) closer!

If it happened like this - I can hear the Aggies saying it now: Any year their conference champ beat our conference champ - SEC dominates so much better etc...and they are in 5th place in their division.

I agree it would add a degree of intrigue regarding expansion if that were the case.

The more I look at it, its basically what we get at the Cotton Bowl now. The B12 champ will be in the final four 99% of the time and so will the SEC champ, so in the end, youll end up with the second or third place teams playing in this game.

Sounds great, but when the two champs meet, itll be in the final four and not this matchup.

Off the cuff, this leaves the ACC without a dancing partner. All they have left is the BIGE and they dont have a team that will have you making plans to watch, which translates to a very poor TV demand, which leads to weak negotiating power for more money. If FSU and VT ever wanted to be part of a football conference, this is their chance. The ACCs only chance is to get ND to dance, but ND hasnt been worth a crap for a while either. My questions are this, if you care to answer:

1. Will this put a cap on the number of teams conferences go for?
2. What will the ACC schools do now?
3. Will ND decide to get in the mix now that the ACC is the only game in town left for them? (if they dont get a special invite into the 4 team brawl)
4. When will the B12 meet and what do you think will come of those meetings?

Dude, this has probably set the table for a very interesting summer. I promise you that the phones are blowing up right now. Schools from the BIGE and ACC have to be scrambling to find a way to get in on this. All the other conferences are making deals left and right and the money totals keep going up. OU has a network deal, texas has a network deal, Kst has an internet gig going, the B12 just negotiated a TV deal and not this is going to up the ante even more. B10 and P12 are rolling in it too. Basketball just doesnt make that kind of money. Which schools are going to bail?

I disagree. Thats like AQ status if thats the case. Saying that if the SEC/B12 are in the top four, they will play in one half of the semis? I dont like it, but you might be right.

I want to be excited about this, but I just dont see the big deal the more I look at it. Itll be like Kst vs Arky last year or A&M vs LSu the year before.

I'm sorry. In my original post I wasn't replying to you specifically but hit the button by accident. I agree that its always been important and wish I felt like Mack put more importance on it. From my own perspective, I would love the opportunity to play Florida, Bama, LSU, Georgia in a bowl as opposed to a B10 team or a PAC1 team

I hope we go to 14 teams like that and that would be the number and be done with it. We also have to think that the SEC will try and add to expand their footprint - (Va Tech and ?).

We shall see. Interesting summer.
