Baylor mod regarding conference realignment

Adding those two won't get the Big 12 to $30 million. I hope I'm wrong but $30 million would outpace the new projected SEC contract which I don't think would happen.

There is no "new SEC" contract. They have a 15 year deal with look-in provisons. If the SEC were to negotiate a new contract today, they would command more money than the Big 12. They aren't. Their time will come in 2024.

You're incorrect. After adding mizzou and A&M Slive is in the process of renogotiating. Google is your friend.

No, you are incorrect (apparently Google is not your friend). The provisions in the current contract remain in effect. The SEC is bound to ESPN for the remainder of the contract term. All that is happening is that the SEC is asking for an increase in the rights fees under the contact pursuant to one of the look-in provisions. If they don't reach an agreement, then the SEC's only resort is arbitration. They can't see what Fox or TW or anyone else will offer for the Tier 2 rights. If you can't appreciate the diffence, then there isn't much I can do for you.

Looks good, but Im not so sure I like Clemson very much. Good in name, but hasnt been a good team i a long time. Long long time. VT would be much a much better get. Also, in that setup, the Kansas schools would be pissed at the travel cost they would have to shell out every year.

You should go to a Clemson home game and you would change you mind. Also, the extra money would compensate for the added travel costs.

I see their games, but OU vs Clemson or texas vs Clemson just wont move many people in my opinion.

There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.

  • I would love to see FSU and Clemson join, hopefully followed by Miami, Maryland, GT, and VT.

  • The more I read on this on other sites, it sounds like there is a good possibility Louisville and Miami will be included.

Louisville coaches are telling recruits they are joining the Big 12, and it sounds like Miami and FSU are joined together.

You were right. The article I read used the term "renegotiation" but it was within the framework of the current contract. However, the SEC will more than likely end up with a better deal than they have today after adding Mizzou and aggy.

June/July announcement of FSU/Clemson joining the Big-12 and leaving the ACC. This comes from Brian Ethridge who is Baylor's mod on the 247 network, he also says adding those 2+ a conference champ game would net each school 30 million per year.

FSU also just announced today there athletic department is facing a 2.4 million dollar shortfall.

Still haven't heard anyone say anything about Ethridge's credibiltiy...does have have good connections/intel...or just smoking crack?

Think I remember Bobby (or one of our mods) saying that Ethridge has some good connections and sources for this stuff.

Keep in mind that they also have two more mouths to feed the increase will be marginalized on that basis.

I think that will come into play more when discussing Bowl and Conference championship payouts but valid point.

I was strictly referring to the per team payout from the media contract.

  • I feel like I may be one of only a few here that likes the idea of bringning in Louisville. They would be an excellent addition for basketball. The same cant be said about FSU, Clemson, TCU, or Miami.

FSU basketball is on the upswing.

TCU, Clemson, and Miami not so much.

I love the idea of adding Louisville, but I think Clemson and FSU have solid basketball programs. FSU finished the season as one of the better teams in the ACC. I believe adding Louisville, FSU, and Clemson would make us one of the stronger conferences.

Remember the Big East is losing Syracuse, West Virginia, Pitt, and Louisville under that scenario, and possibly UCONN.

I agree that the addition of TCU was terrible, from a basketball perspective.

The Big 12 would also be one of, if not the, best conferences in baseball with FSU, Clemson, and Miami.
