Does any coach............hell yes! But the baseball "problem"? We were one of 8 standing in the CWS last year, lost in 2 of 3 in the super regional (year before) and played LSU for the national championship 3 seasons ago.........

BTW were you happy Durant was here for 1 year? 2 years for Ford, Augustine, LM,Myck for 2 years? ..........do some research Texas has a very small percentage that are 1 and done.

I'm not complaining about Durant and co. My issue are with the Chapmans and Gibbs, the supporting cast.

Gosh I thought Chapman had a nice senior year............the Gibbs thing we don't know what kind of player he is at the college level.

  • Imo we were very fortunate (draw) to have made the cws last year. Our offense is and has been deplorable for some time now. I fear Augie's legacy is about to parallel Conradt.

You are correct about the draw but remember we've had some very tough draws in the last few years...............think TCU and UC Irvine. Those things tend to even out over time.

We've won 2 tournament games the last 4 years. If it's not the players, I guess that just leaves coaching, then?

We could go around in circles....................2 games in 4 years is not enough but was 5 Sweet 16's and 3 Elite 8's the previous 7 years ok with you? Again you discount making the tournament 14 years in a row............check to see how many other teams can say the same. I am sorry you seem to be of the belief that only national championships count.......

I'm not discounting anything. Just like there were reasons for the football team going from the NC game to 5-7, there are reasons for our bball team going from Elite Eights to 2 wins in 4 years. Things don't "just happen." IMO, the reason for the bball team's shortcomings were the evaluations and development of our 3-4 year players. What is your explanation?

I think really bad "make-up" of the 2008-2009 team. IMHO James and Bradley were not good teammates..............plus we lost 2 guards Ward and Balbay (half point of the conference season) The team had poor leadership but that is Barnes fault..........one of his strengths is building good "teams" with really good kids. That one missed the mark........

In addition we received a really bad seed (everybody on the planet said we were a 2 or 3) plus we had to play Zona in game 2. We know the game at the end was officiated poorly...........but those are the breaks. We shouldn't blown a 20 pt lead in Colorado........that might have made a difference in the seed.

This year we lose TT and Joseph when most people thought Joseph would be around for 2-3 years. But tip your hat to Barnes for dong an outstanding job with a young team. Plsu for developing TT and Joseph. IMHO there are not many coaching staffs who gets this team to the NCAA's

BTW I don't view this as a derail at all...........and 5-7 football season is a very long way from 20-14 (NCAA Bid and top 10 SOS)

Does Augie need to pull a Mack Brown and shake up his staff? Can't keep the status quo right, even with the injuries?

I think something needs to be done. If Augie stays then he needs to get a couple of new coaches. I personally think Harmon needs to retire!!!

Tommy may be a heck of a recruiter, but the problem is most of those stud commits he gets never make it to campus. Maybe he should do a better job at evaluating/developing the 2nd-tier recruits. Kinda sounds like Rick Barnes, huh?

Coach Gus had to turn to a second tier mix due to the same issue of the top recruits choosing MLB.
