Barnes is a very good recruiter, but he is not good at getting his team ready.. Should have an elite 8 team with the Jordan Hamilton and Joesph, Thompson team and yet we lose in the 2nd round. His team under achieves by so much.

Nope - I would have fired Barnes last year. Just saying - as long as we beat OU it will keep the masses happy.

He and Mack have very similar reputations. Nice guys, good recruiters, a couple of conf champs since 98, struggles in crunch time.

I tend to agree that we need to look for better options, but unfortunately they're satisfied with the basketball team just being relevant. I've been on the "Fire Rick Barnes" bandwagon for 5 or so years now, after watching our teams underachieve year-after-year. The most infuriating thing about our team under Barnes is how terrible we are at the free-throw line. We seem to shoot 50-60% every year, leaving a ton of points at the line and he doesn't seem to do anything to try and fix it. His offense relys on a KD, J'Covan Brown, Jordan Hamilton type player who takes the ball and scores 20+ on his own. Without this type of player (this season) the offense is stagnant, as we dribble the ball for 25-30 seconds before throwing up a contested prayer from deep. Lastly, FREE KABONGO!

IMO, we're finally going in the right direction signing 3-4 year players. This will be a rough patch because we really ARE that young, but I'm hopeful for next year and beyond.

afraid their national reps are very similar. great recruiters that underachieve with the talent they pull in. keep the head in the sand buddy. it works for you

Until Barnes wins a national championship (or play for one), their reps are not similar at all!

Again, 2 undefeated National Championships in 4 years speaks for itself.

We have a lot of season left and there is a playoff in Basketball. This team will get better but how much better. I can wait and see.

We are in the middle of a change of recruiting philosophy from having to rebuild the team each year because our "one and doner's" are seemingly done before their first year is over, and building a team with players who will be and want to be here for more than a year, and hopefully some pretty good additions to the team over the next couple of years. I enjoy watching the development of teams and players over time. That means paying attention and making judgements over time. People wanted to fire Coach Barnes when we had one and done players, and now, some people want to fire him because we are having growing pains with this new recruiting philosophy. Frankly, I find the "Fire'em for Whatever Reason Boo Birds" to be a tad tiresome as they wrap their robes of entitlement around themselves. I hate to say this, but your bare butt is hanging out, because your robes of entitlement are not real. Relax and enjoy the ride. Nobody here is going to have any effect on the outcome of the season, unless, perhaps they get out to a game and support their team. Gee! what a concept!
