Backup LBs?

  • Anything to report on Aaron Benson, Tevin Jackson or Kendall Thompson? I heard Aaron Benson is probably going to get passed up pretty soon by guys like Santos and Jinkins.

I was hoping Jackson and Thompson were making a move to get some snaps at their respective LB spots instead of just special teams.

Gerry, Bobby, Jeff, have yall heard anything on these guys?

  • Tevin Jackson has been been doing well from what I've heard, definitely the first off the bench

  • Tevin Jackson has looked like the first LB off the bench.

After that, it depends on who gets hurt as to who might come off the bench.

At MLB, I can see a couple of different things, such as even moving Hicks inside over Benson or Santos, and pushing Jackson into Hicks' old spot.

The facts are, right now there's a top four and Kendall Thompson and Aaron Benson are 5th and 6th depending on the positional need. Santos has a chance to be the MLB back up. Jinkens is going to have a hard time getting on the field this year outside of special teams IMO even though I am told he has done some nice things early, particularly in summer work.

  • When do full pads start? Nothing will really happen at LB until after that.

"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.

Great thanks. Interested to see what both Jackson and Thompson can do. It's been suggested that Benson's path to playing time might involve moving to fullback.

Also, is Chet Moss not going to rejoin the team in the fall? Thanks again!
