Playing "hard." That's not enough. Playing prepared, alert, ready, with a sense of urgency. A will and desire to succeed. It is like a puzzle where there are pieces that are missing. A "disconnect."
“I don't think in college football you're ever past anything,” Mack said. “You've got to coach yourself to death every weekend. You go out there and coach whatever shows up. Hope that both sides play great. When they don't, you go adjust. That's what we tried to do tonight.”
This does not sound like acumen. On top of things. "whatever shows up" ??
"Hope that both sides play great." ?? Hope?
Sounds like a Coach that does not have a grasp of what his plan is, the players, the staff....a disconnect.
Is there a Captain on the bridge?
"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
Mentally, there is a disconnect in the program. Starting with the Top.
Coach Godbolt a few minutes ago, 'That was a lethargic game yesterday before a national audience. What have they done now, lost three of their last home games. Jon Madani, 'Since 1909?' Godbolt, 'Brain Harsin and Manny Diaz had a whole week to prepare. Harsin has faced Patterson three times. Lost 2 of 3.'
We are a weak football team with an incompetent defensive coordinator, an impotent offense void of play makers and a weak head coach. The rot has completely set in. Any well coached, physical football team will pistol whip this group.
The only reason we looked any better is because we played Baylor, Kansas, Tech and Iowa State. If we play anyone with a pulse they will take it to us.
Good summary of where we are, Jeff.
"Three things can happen when you throw the ball and two of 'em are bad."........Darrell Royal
I can hear Mack at the Monday Presser that he got a few calls from BMD and his job is safe
