  • That article seems to imply that he's not an offensive tackle.

Yes, and it's not like Texas is hurting for talent at TE. I mean we are so flat nasty stacked with talent at the position and all...

  • Will be one of the top 3 recruiting mistakes Mack Brown has ever made. The part that really upsets me was the internet group think about his weight and eventual move to tackle. It was a lie that most longhorn fans believed if they just kept saying it enough it would be true.

The cold, harsh truth is staring us right in the face.

  • It's not like the kid didn't get an offer from Texas. In the end, he just decided to be closer to his family in Washington. I don't think Texas could have done anything that would have made him commit.

I think you are correct. I think he was going to Udub all along even if he was going to visit elsewhere.

  • Mack could have told him he'll be a TE even if he weighed 400 pounds and I don't think he was coming here. I honestly believe he was Washington's to lose the entire time.

Now the new story that Texas fans have been circulating around the Internet is "Well, he was always going to Washington all along."His recruitment is a microcosm of the Texas fan base as it is anything else.

ASJ was very interested in Texas. We told him flat out he was not going to be a tight end. That is when we were out of it. Had we recruited him correctly he would have been a Longhorn.

You won't be missing him by the end of the year. MJ McFarland is going to be a stud. Mark it down-

ASJ is an All American candidate last year and now. I miss him right now regardless of what anyone else develops into.

  • He wouldnt have wasted his time with Texas if he wasn't serious about coming here. That's a long ass freaking trip to make. That junk he fed the reporters after committing with UW was to save face and nothing more. I truly believe he was 50-50 or around there until we told him he'd be a freaking OT.

    Is that assumption?

Newy deals only in absolutes. There are no assumptions in his world.

Those who can, do; those who can't, coach; those who never could, complain about the first two.

  • I'll never forget him cussing me up and down his senior year just because of the people my previous job's affiliation with ESPN.

He called me and a friend of mine who covered another team every name in the book, all because ESPN ranked him as an OT and not TE.

Well, it was supposedly reported by a radio reporter than ASJ said told one of the UDub commits that he was always going to go to UW but he was going to try to drum up some publicity for himself and the school in his recruiting process. I think the guy was going to go to UW any which way but he wanted to let it be known that he was a big time prospect who was going to Washington.

If that's true, he definitely succeeded.

Haha. It was definitely a first for me. Like I said, he called me just about every name in the book then told me to go screw myself.... but didn't use screw.

And all I did for this to happen?

    Ask for an interview. Yep.
