From what i have seen over the time I have been on here, you seem to know a lot . That is why I am very concerned going forward.

No denying aggie had a good win, recently joined the overated but perception is everything SEC, hired a dynamic coach and appear to be on the upswing. But none of that establishes a tradition of winning or "top brand name" in one season. Add to it that Austin is Austin and well College Station is what it is. They better take advantage of this season in 2014 because 2013 is mostly decided and even with our limited scholarships we have out recruited them (8th v. 12). If you go for star average they drop out of the top 20 with their 16 3 stars out of 29 total. They are loaded with senior and junior starters and will lose two top O linemen to the NFL. Our core players are sophmores and freshmen.

Point is tap the breaks. One season does not make a trend. The SEC will adjust to the hurry up (Fl. and LSU did) and aggie will return to its role as a solid .500 ball club.

I think you know a lot about Brenham and the surrounding area. Can you point to factual instances where Aggies are making inroads in other places, much less "made a move to take the state?

Brenham area has always been a tug of war with Aggie. Their success will definitely make recruiting even more difficult in Brenham, but let's not get carried away and take what you might be hearing from your area and extrapolate it over the whole state.

Would ESPN not be shooting themselves in the foot considering how much investment they have in the LHN?
Do agree just about all other outlets and newspapers have been beating the drum for them for a while. This will give them plenty of ammo and backs the Aggies up on their abillty to compete in the SEC. I do think if we can win at least one of the next two games and our bowl game, we will be alright. We don't beat Kstate when we are better than they are and that is not the case this year. I agree with you that the Aggies will get their share of top players .
They are way up there in commits so they should not be able to take too many more this year unless they are going to jerk some offers away from commits. That is usually not a good idea in Texas.

That's fair. But kids make their decisions on a variety of issues. ESPN pimping A&M will happen, but UT will still get their share of exposure too.

I think one thing that comes into decision making is the school itself and the city the school is in. UT will always win that decision unless a kid wants to be an engineer, which not many football players want to be.

I'm a city kid and have spent a miserable year of my life in College Station - I have no desire to ever go back. I suspect most city kids would pick Austin over CS if given the chance, even if Sumlin keeps throwing it all over the yard.

We just need to get back to playing well and winning . We will be OK. We put up a couple of below par years for us which hurt us some in recruiting. Need to finish strong and really roll next year. No more OU debacles.

While I'm definitely impressed with what they have accomplished this year -- I was in the 6-6/7-5 boat -- could we wait until they have a couple of 10-win seasons before anointing them as the next big thing?

you guys don't get it. A&M recruits totally differently and has for since Franchione left. Less focus on 5 stars who often come with a lot of liability and focus on 3 star kids that often are under the radar. Johnny
Football was never offered by big Mack (burger head!). Why is that. Given him or Ash or McCoy, who would you take. D'Montre Moore, over looked , not offered but leading everyone in sacks.
Too many 5 stars in 1 place almost creates a power struggle. Taking less and developing to more seems to be working for a lot of schools (BU, TT, OSU, Kstate!)
It is as much about developing character as it is out right athletic skills and in that, mack is getting his ass kicked.

The aggies have 2 first round picks at tackle on offense and 1 on defense. They are the only spread team that can match the SEC in line play on both sides of the ball. Most likely those 3 will be gone next year.

Hell I sold the kid short. He might win it this year if Klein and KSU slip up against BU or Texas.
