but I think people are overreacting a bit.
first, aggy has some great players right now, and they landed those players when Texas was kicking their ass in recruiting; therefore it stands to reason that even if aggy gets more of a share of recruits, there is enough talent in this state, Texas just has to be better at evaluating and developing talent.
second, aggy will need to continue winning, as flavors of the month often build up excitement but can lose it quickly if they do not have sustained success.

Ags 2013 class is big and may be almost set, 2014 is the telling year. When you compare UT to the Ags this year it is their defense that has been the biggest surprise. Their offense and defensive lines have been strong.

Recruits still have to live in College Station for 4 years and be subjected to 1.5 million stupid pagan rituals. I don't think they are going to be a factor going forward.

Their season highlights how having a good offensive line opens up an offensive playbook. We need to get tougher up front.

The allure of playing with a probable future Heisman winner, as well as the best player to ever play at A&M, under a black head coach, in the premier conference (this is how they see it), will far outweigh the advantage Austin is over College Station.

For East Texas kids, the advantage goes to College Station and the "small town" vibe. A&M has an absurd amount of momentum in Houston. David Beaty is a great recruiter in Dallas, and he will have A&M in every kids' head, even though the culture shock from Dallas to CS is pretty big.

first off, i don't know why some are surprised by the farmers win. the bottom line is the top schools in the B12 have been able to run with the top teams of the SEC for a while. i don't want to diminish the SEC in any way, but i have been for a while a firm believer that the SEC is not for and above superior to the B12 irrespective of what we hear week in and week out from espn and other media outlets. so the fact that the farmers are playing well in the SEC should not be that surprising.

now it terms of recruiting, sure this will help the farmers. but in my view the real issue is all about us. what does our guys do, not the farmers. if our guys win and win a lot, then we are going to continue to get top recruits. we have most of the advantages; best facilities, better city of the two, tradition, etc. so from my seat if the farmers do start dominating us in recruiting, it will because of mistakes that Mack and our guys make first and foremost.

No, because it's going to take more than one game for them to establish the sort of trend you suggest in your post. Granted, it's a big win for their program, but I would also argue that the SEC is in a "down" year with respect to the quality of teams they have faced or will in the next few weeks. Their record appears more impressive IMO than it really is on paper. Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri and then out of conference opponents such as, La Tech, South Carolina State, Sam Houston State and SMU are not exactly scaring the hell out of anyone today. Now, if A&M can establish a trend where it starts knocking off the "big names" in the SEC on a consistent basis (Lsu, Florida and Alabama), then that's a different story. Arkansas and Auburn you would have to think are also not going to stay "down" for too long. Texas will continue to get quality recruits as long as we keep winning and we ensure that the OU/Texas series doesn't start getting out of hand again as it has for the past two games. We certainly have to address that in the near future, but I still think Texas holds the advantage in the near future as long as our coaches work hard on the trail as I would expect them too.
