Andrew Luck

It is just my opinion but Luck seems too short for the NFL...I see a lot of batted down passes coming in the future for the Colts. RGIII seems to skinny although that can be a quick fix in an NFL S&C program and well Tannehill just sucks...another bad choice by the Dolphins...hopefully the Browns will trade Colt to Miami and he can beat Tannehill out for the starting job...

If Luck is too short at 6'4", what does that make Colt at 6'1"?

    Dude, or dudette...

At the combine he was measured to be 6'4 (a good 4 inches taller than all-world QB Drew Brees).

But yeah, Colt is the best and would beat out Tannehill, but Luck is too short.

    Good God.

Again just my opinion, he looks short.

Can anyone lend me more downvotes?

    Seriously.

    You are embarrassing yourself.

That is nowhere close to being true. Period.

Yep, I'm with WildBill. I'm sure everyone all has their sources but I know Luck liked Texas a lot.

  • The Sooner had it right in his OP... Luck would have been a Texas/Stanford battle if Texas would have offered, with Texas having the distance factor and Stanford not having the massive amount of momentum they do now after the Luck era.

Stanford would have been an upset if they won out over Texas IMO.

Texas wins 10 games at least in 2011 if Luck is the QB.

Not to mention they have a better chance in the title game in 2009 with a RS freshman Luck.

More than likely right about 2011 although it's a tough call with no TE, Ship hurt, Davis sucking and both backs going down. Tall order for anyone. Still don't think we win the conference.....

I'll agree they have a better chance but I thought Gilbert played pretty well all things considered. It isn't like Luck would've had any more snaps to prepare.

Cool story bro, but Eliot Allen would dispute that.

Kates are you from around stratford? I know the lucks and think he would have been very receptive had texas shown interest

If Texas had Luck in 2010 then Texas might have gone 7-6 or 8-5 and none of the coaches that were needed to be let go would still be here.

He would have had an entire year of snaps more than Gilbert, not to mention he was just a better player overall.

Game snaps.......and with the game Davis was calling I'm not sure anybody could've pulled that out.

Nice revisionist history. Andrew Luck was never going to come to Texas, period.

But which came first? The, "Don't like him, doesn't fit our system" or "I'm not considering Texas"?

Of course, if I'd had the choice of a free ride to Stanford and a free ride to Texas, I wouldn't be posting on this board.

I didn't say he couldn't win games. I said anything of significance.......Big XII titles, BCS games, etc. Texas wasn't good enough for that.

Maybe not in 2010. In 2011, there was a pretty good chance. Look at the reason we lost a couple of those games. Running backs went down and we didn't have the quarterbacks to lead the team. With Luck, there's a chance we beat Okie State, Baylor, K-state, and Mizzou. Quarterback play was atrocious in those games. I don't see us beating OU at all.

If those coaches wouldn't have missed on talent why would we have wanted them to go? My dislike for GD is there with the best of them but had they kept pumping talent into the program who knows where we would be. I doubt we would have had 2010 and '11 repeats like you say. Just saying.

GG played in a terrible system with below UT's standard personnel. I don't fault him for that. Still, and I'll stick my neck out here since I haven't bothered to check, but I doubt Mr. Luck would have managed any 5 pick performances, wild inaccuracy, and odd ball stuck in hand moments.

On the other hand, we probably wouldn't have had any of the badly needed staff turnover.

I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.

I agree with you if the other coaches were pumping talent into the Texas program and Texas was winning then you don't want them to go. The problem is if Texas only gets Luck and the other coaches keep doing poor jobs at recruiting talent and the S&C program.

Yes he did... and so did his cousin, for whatever that's worth!

Since this is getting to be a bi-annual discussion, we'll never know what would have happened in 2010 or 2011 IF he was Texas' starting Qb... since he was never recruited in 2007/2008 nor did he make any visits... it's all a mute point now!

Either put the game in the hands of your turnover prone QB or run the ball with your weak running game right into the teeth of the Bama defense.

Luck was better, would have been a RS freshman with an entire year of practice snaps under his belt, and just would have done better.

  • Passing on a QB in '08 (think that was Luck's year) was a mistake.

Mack even says in his book, take a QB every year.

But the sooner is an idiot. For one thing, GD doesn't decide whether or not we take or don't take a QB.

GD really liked Luck (know this for a fact). GD tried to get Griffin on campus though as an Athlete.

    Anything else is revisionist history.

Would Luck have come here? Heard both, ironically from people who know Luck's Dad.

Doubt we'll ever know the truth but am reminded of the haters going nuts when Chase Daniel claimed he had a TEXAS offer.

3 years later during a Cotton Bowl interview (pre Big XII game interview?), he admitted NEITHER TEXAS nor OU offered him.

Moral of the story, be careful of sources and OU SUCKS.
