An observation about LHN

  • I have it because it is part of my package from consolidated. Frankly I seldom watch it because there are so few programs that pertain to the sports I am interested in. Ladies softball is on now and I can only watch 10 year old football games so many times. I hold that the ultimate reason Plonsky pushed for it was to show case women's sports rather than to help our football program. Is it not odd that really no major program is doing well?

  • I've had the LHN for a couple weeks and softball has been on 90% of the time. They did replay the Rose Bowl games, but other than that... Meh.

  • Just watched an awesome replay of the 2001 basketball game with OU.

Lol, it been on here about as long as anywhere. Other than the live football games, there hasn't been much worth watching unless you are into nostalgia or bad play by our other teams. The practices were really boring stuff because you only got the first part that consisted if basic drills. For other reasons, I'm probably going to drop Uverse and find a bar for the games unless LHN happens to show up on Direct.

  • It's terrible -there really is nothing on it. I've had it since they added Uverse and other than watching a couple of games that were not on reg TV, it is not on.

  • Really don't mean this in a jerk sort of a way, but what do you really expect?

I only watch it for the game day aspects of football and for the extra few games that it provides.

I agree - there is only so much UT Sports you can watch... Golf , Tennis and Softball are hard to watch.

  • I rarely watch it because the state of Texas athletic programs disgusts me at the present.

  • Just spitballing here but I think the only reason Belmont wanted the LHN was for the money.

  • I have no problem with LHN per se, but do have a problem with the fact that Texas gets absolutely no coverage of any kind outside of the basketball games that are contractually guaranteed on Fox and ESPN.

Flipping thru the tv guide on my set this morning and see a re-run of "Texas A&M Signing Day ReCap." aggys and Sooners are everywhere on my television but no Longhorns.

I agree and you are spot on about the coverage. I live between Austin and College Station and can not get the LHN on Direct TV. Last season all but 1 game the ags played in was on TV but several games that my Horns played were blacked out or on the LHN. This sucks for fans and you can bet that the high school kids see this and want to play somewhere that is on TV every weekend. The LHN better get put on ESPNU or on the cable\Direct plans or it will hurt us in the long run.

Clearly you are interested in UT football only and even then we need to be good. Anybody dropping uverse when baseball is about to get going wasnt going to have much use for longhorn athletics anyway

A 25% blackout in UT football games will hurt.

We need to work something out here. My favorite sport is softball. Maybe I can get you a slingbox and when softball is on you can forward it to me. Different strokes but I am quite frustrated by being unable to get the LHN at all.

Agree. I think once baseball is in full swing, the LHN will be well worth it.

What's ironic about this is that I live in Tulsa and can get the LHN from one of two carriers in my neighborhood. Now I can play them against each other for the best deal opposed to being tied to Uverse only for the LHN.

  • I happen to like soft ball in person. Montgomery has a good softball program as did Round Rock when I was there. My frustration is much more when the decline in excellence in all programs it seems in the last few years.

  • Unless I had a daughter playing I would never watch women's sports. They just don't interest me At ALL. I tried watching the NC Volleyball game and just couldn't sit through it, and that was for a national title.

Our baseball team is pretty damn boring as the level of play in college baseball is far far far far worse than the level of play in the other major college sports. The Big 12 baseball players still look like little priviledged white kids running around, it's not much of a step up from watching HS baseball.

I'd gladly let one of you women's sports or baseball junkies pay me for this channel. Other than football game day and Wednesdays for all access it's pretty useless to me.

Well, if you only like football, then it is what it is. I happen to love Longhorn baseball (my dog is named Augie) and wish the road games were on the LHN as well.

  • LHN is proving what many have known since its inception. The product has no staying power. Even if it were available on every provider, the concept is a dud. Horn fans who have had it for awhile now have begun to cool off. There are much better uses of couch time.

  • I will just scroll through a weeks worth of programming and record anything that looks good. At the end of the week I have a good nights worth of entertainment.

  • With Football and Basketball not performing well, there's no leg to stand on for carriers to add it. Add to it the lack of enthusiasm by the fanbase due to the above reasons kill any sense of urgency to bug TWC, Dish, DirecTV, etc for them to carry it.

DeLoss should cut his losses(pun not intended) and scrap it. For over a year it's been more trouble than its worth.
