Alabama's conference schedule.

Baylor would do similar things to most SEC teams as well.

    Agree.

  • I think the key for a team like Baylor vs an SEC team.is to.jump.out to.an early lead like they did vs KSU. If you make the power SEC teams pass, that's where they are most vulnerable. Georgia & maybe Bama are the only teams that wouldn't be in deep trouble. Imagine Mettenburger trying to match scores with Baylor.

I haven't been able to find a truly great team all year. Alabama is just as deserving as the rest IMO. Lots of average football teams this year.

This is probably the only totally true post in this entire thread. I'm not an SEC hater or lover, but they do know how to get up for one big game and they don't beat each other up so they can be in the position to get in the game.

Notre Dame has played badly and squeeked out a lot of close wins but pulled an anti-Texas and actually got up for their toughest game at OU. It would not surprise me if they got beat at USC with Kiffin trying to save his job.

Everyone else just seems to have regressed to the mean and have been exposed against teams they should have beat.

I understand the point when folks point to Notre Dame's tight wins against a couple of weak teams, but every team runs into that during a national title run unless they are Nebraska 1995 or Miami 2001. Notre Dame has the best defense in the country. If they play someone from the SEC, the typical weak SEC offense is going to have problems. Of course, ND's offense is pretty weak too, so it would be a toss-up for me.

No one wants to give ND's defense credit as a national title worthy D, but outside of Bama 2011, I am not sure of a better one in the last 5 years. I am not talking about statistics, although their stats are fine and without the inflation of a bunch D1 bottom feeders and a couple of D2 teams clouding their schedules. I am talking about straight up getting after it from kickoff to 00:00.

  • The SEC really needs to play 9 conference games. 8 conference games in a 14 team league means luck of scheduling will often determine who makes the title game.

    Randy Watson

  • The SEC has “supposedly” the following teams in the top 12 of the BCS:

    Alabama #2, Georgia #3, Florida #4, LSU #7, A&M #9, South Carolina #12 (in order of rank)

Now let’s see who has played whom:

    Alabama (LSU, A&M) * Georgia SEC Champ. /////////// Best win: @ 2 loss #7 LSU ////////// Loss: Home to #9 2 loss A&M
Georgia: (Florida, South Carolina) *Alabama /////Best win: #4 Florida /////// Loss: @ #12 2 loss South Carolina
    Florida: (A&M, South Carolina, LSU, Georgia) //////// Best win: #7 LSU/ #9 A&M //////// Loss: Neutral # 3 Georgia
    LSU: ( Alabama, Florida, A&M, South Carolina) //////Best win: #9 A&M /////////////// Loss(es): #4 Florida, #2 Alabama
    A&M: (Alabama, Florida, LSU,) /////// Best win: #2 Alabama ///////////// Loss(es): #4 Florida, #7 LSU
    South Carolina ( Georgia, LSU, Florida) //////// Best win: #3 Georgia ////////// Loss(es) #7 LSU, #4 Florida

    Summary:
Florida and LSU have had the toughest schedules both playing 4 of the possible 5 toughest SEC teams.
Alabama and Georgia have had the easiest schedules. Both will play each other coming up. Alabama is being rewarded for beating Michigan, but cmon the Big 10 is down big time.
South Carolina and A&M are similar in that both have lost to 2 other teams in the top 6 of the SEC but also have a win over 1 top 6 SEC team.

Why is Bama automatically #2? In reality since Georgia beat Florida it should really be Georgia, Florida then Alabama. But Florida has clearly played the tougher conference schedule up to this point and is the only team to do so and come out with just 1 loss.

  • What is a total joke is a playoff based on polls and rankings.

If you take out the PRESEASON RANKINGS this year and started everything mid October then what would we have?

Make everyone join and conference to get into a 16 playoff and take the champion and runner up from each conference or do an 8 team playoff and take champions only.

    Anything else is opinionated bullshit!!

    Projected records.

    0-8 Auburn
    1-7 Tennessee
    2-6 Arkansas
    2-6 Missouri
    3-5 Ole Miss
    4-4 Mississippi State
    6-2 aggy
    6-2 LSU
    7-1 Georgia (SEC championship game)

That is the team most likely going to play for a BCS title. It's fucking bullshit.

Texas A&M is THE team in Texas. Horns are a joke.

A&M is to the state of Texas what Auburn is to the state of Alabama. Minus the recent national championships and undefeated seasons...so maybe more like what Oklahoma State is to Oklahoma.
