Age isn't the issue with Mack. He's the same age as Nick Saban and Pete Carroll, and most here would love to have either of those two.

Mack Brown is the same age as Saban and Pete Carroll, and several years younger than Spurrier.
That said, I completely agree with the take that Mack already put his retirement / succession plan in place (Muschamp) but it blew up in his face. Now, he's coaching when he planned to be retired. Not a good situation to be in with a guy who has all the money he needs in the bank, and only has pride and legacy concerns.

Saban is a rare beast. He is 61, but lets be honest, the guys looks 50 at the most. Someone email this one to Mack Brown so he can open his eyes and realize that he is done as the Texas coach. He is only holding the program back.
