Aggie logic (oxymoron)

  • I suppose that Aggie logic is more than an oxymoron; but I can't get what some recruits must think. I notice that they have some commits that Texas has offered and two that we probably would like to have: Griffin and todays commit Wilson. How can guys want to go and get their ass handed to them in the SEC. Texas represents a chance to go for a MNC within the next few years...I believe. A&M will get hammered by Alabama, LSU, Auburn and some other schools in that leauge...there is no question. So what makes a kid want to go play, yes in the SEC if all that will happen is loss after loss?
What are they selling over in B-CS that makes a high valued recruit think they can win there, or is winning not important to some?

  • Don't believe any of our guys hold Texas offers.

I do think that Huggins, Golden, White, and Wilson were all invited to a Texas Jr. day where they may or may not have received an offer.

  • Wilson is the only pretty sure offer on their list

Wilson is the only pretty sure decommit. I think Golden would have received an offer too.

  • Texas would've offered Golden and Wilson IMO.

  • I'm pretty sure if we wouldn't have landed Hicks, we would've offered White. I know Wilson probably has an offer if he shows up at some point and shows legitimate interest, and Golden as well. I have no idea who any of the other guys are that the aggies landed.

A civil question, if I may. Why do you come to the Texas board. I assume your a lawyer by your moniker, maybe not, but just interested why an ag is here.

    Bevostevo

  • They are selling immidiate playing time. If a kid is scared of competing, he will shy away from Texas depth chart at most positions.

I just enjoy the discourse. There are some smart people here and I enjoy the adverse dialogue when it's reasonable. It's just more fun for me than sitting in a thread full of friends where we all tell each other how right "we" are and how wrong "they" are. There's still a decent amount to discuss on A&M boards that allows for opposing sides, but I find the difference between Ags and horns too remarkable to not participate in.

I realize that I'm posting over here more than usual lately. I'll try to be more cognizant of the probable fact that most don't share my view about the "fun" referenced above.

lets see, if I am a kid, and I want to get ready for life in the pros, I can play in the SEC and get tested week after week so I am battle tested at the next level. Or, I can play for tu and play a tough game or two a season, then get my azz handed to me at the next level.

This is just over a half of the guys playing in the NFL for "tu". These are just the starters. I am having a hard time finding anyone who is getting "their ass handed to them." I am having a hard time finding guys who weren't ready for a life in the pros or who "tu" didn't prepare for a life in the pros. It's hard enough to make a NFL roster, but these guys have done that and many are pushing a decade of playing time, with contract extentions. Some have multiple super bowls rings and others multiple pro bowl's. And the point you were trying to make was???

Thinking outside the box..... Better yet outside the 40 Acres could help you find that answer by yourself.....if you can't find it, I'd say you've been sip'n the orange drank too long. Any reasoning given to you will only be met by a deaf ear.

  • Aggie here,
We will manage better than most think, but if you are questioning what recruits see, what gives on Oliver going to an offense stocked with RB's, with a rough QB situation, versus a offense that has had success in passing lately and also a new offense being implemented that will optimize a receivers look...? I think it goes both ways recruits just have their own way of picking schools

Academics were important to Oliver. Given that, his choice between the two schools was simple.
