  • Jesus. Is another Gideon post necessary? The guy is gone. Whether people like it or not he was a 4 year starter. Was he a liability? Yeah, sometimes, but there were a shit ton of other players who made their fair share of mistakes. I'm not a Gideon fan by any means, but people need to give it a rest.

    Maybe Earl Thomas and Brown shouldnt have gotten beat by Crabtree either on that play.

    his saftey play against Bama was just pathetic. cost us 7 points on trent Richardson TD run horrific angle. I remember Muschamp just about had it with the loser.

  • I am new but forgive me if I express a simple truth. We are ONLY fans! The coaches are doing this because it is their livelihood and winning is how they keep their jobs. Finally as fans we have to remember how far we are from the reality of what is happening both on the field and in the locker room. I am not sure we can argue that Gideon was a life saver when we started two Frosh at Safety. He did his job to the best of his human skills and played every game for four years. Lets remember him for that and for the fact that in both his first and second years combined we lost 2 games total and came within a QB injury of winning it all! The last two years were not player failings as much as they were coaching failings: to evaluate recruits better; to train and teach better; to remain hungry. We did not have the horses two years ago and we were better last year but still shy big pieces. The future is bright lets look forward with relish for what the horns are about to unleash on the football world!

    How did he cost us 2 NC's? The Tech game in 2008 wasn't his fault. Our offense came out lackluster and couldn't get out of a hole. So what that he dropped a would-be int. If our offense could've generated some points in the first half we wouldn't even be having this discussion. What is the other NC he cost us? Is he supposed to come in after Colt got hurt and qb the team to victory? That's Mack and Greg's fault for not preparing the backup to come in.

  • Also on that play you're referring to where Gideon took the bad angle on T-Rich's TD run our DT got double teamed and fell over and then Muckleroy got blown out of his gap between the guard and the tackle after the tackle peeled off his combo block with their guard and sealed him off. Gideon's responsibility on that play was the 7 gap which is outside the tackle's outside shoulder which is exactly where the hole begin to open up. T-Rich was heading for that hole but it was going to get filled by Gideon so TR planted and cut up the seam which their tackle sealed off by taking out Muckleroy. No one's to blame because while everyone's responsible for a gap, there's sometimes where the offense just has a better play called than the defense and that was one of them.
