  • Petrino sounds like one of those guys that would lie if the truth was a better story.

People like that are like a cancer to have around.

  • Someone told me that Petrino's picture/bio was already taken down from the UA Athletics website, but that Jessica Dorrell's is still on there. Also, they moved Paul Petrino's pic/info up where BP's would normally have been.

    Interesting......

  • The $20k was for spankings above and beyond the call of duty!! biggrin

that fact that she was in a recruiting position, one could ponder all sorts of stories of where that $20k went, but their recruiting classes haven't been the greatest recently.

  • You need plenty of ammunition to justify firing a winning coach, especially in the SEC. Fortunately for AD Long, Petrino supplied a virtual armory. And Petrino is getting the total beat down that he deserves as he slinks out the door.

I wouldn't applaud Arky. Looks like they had no choice but to fire him. F the hogs. I still hate them from the SWC days.

  • Here is the link to the press conference. The Hog fans started losing it when Long started crying. Is he going to cry? That pussy!! Typical arky fanbase.

    I agree.

Watch this video of the AD presser.

Arky just stepped up in my book.

  • Not much chance of Diaz. Here is the current ESPN speculation --

"It isn't clear whether Long will hire a full-time coach or stick with Taver Johnson, who will serve as interim coach through the end of spring practice. Long said he would begin a search for a new coach immediately, but wasn't entirely committed to hiring a replacement by the start of the 2012 season.

New Arkansas State coach Gus Malzahn and new UAB coach Garrick McGee -- two former Razorbacks offensive coordinators -- have been mentioned as possible candidates to replace Petrino, along with former North Carolina coach Butch Davis, a former Arkansas player. Davis comes with baggage of his own, having been fired from UNC after an NCAA investigation found major infractions. South Florida coach Skip Holtz, the son of former Arkansas and Notre Dame coach and current ESPN analyst Lou Holtz, also has been mentioned among possible candidates.

It certainly wasn't easy, but Long's decision gave ethics and integrity a rare victory over winning in college sports.

Whether Arkansas fans want to admit it or not, Long's decision was the only one he could make. "

I'd like to see about 158 of those passed over sue BP's worthless ass.

  • The extra 20k was for use of the back door.

    COACH CUTLIP

  • It is pretty clear that they're going to have a hard time firing her, even if they care to try. As the subordinate, she's the "victim" and firing her would subject them to a bigger lawsuit than keeping her. She's probably employed for life if she wants to be.

Or tomorrow they could say the hell lawsuit risk, the whole thing stinks, get your shit and GTFO. I am rooting for the latter and this AD might have the balls to do it, but most places either let her stay or pay her well to leave.

  • Bobby Petrino Statement...

"I was informed in writing today at 5:45 p.m. that I was being terminated as head football coach at the University of Arkansas."

"The simplest response I have is: I’m sorry. These two words seem very inadequate. But that is my heart. All I have been able to think about is the number of people I’ve let down by making selfish decisions. I’ve taken a lot of criticism in the past. Some deserved, some not deserved. This time, I have no one to blame but myself."

"I chose to engage in an improper relationship. I also made several poor decisions following the end of that relationship and in the aftermath of the accident. I accept full responsibility for what has happened."

"I’m sure you heard Jeff Long’s reasons for termination. There was a lot of information shared. Given the decision that has been made, this is not the place to debate Jeff’s view of what happened. In the end, I put him in the position of having to sort through my mistakes and that is my fault."

"I have hurt my wife Becky and our four children. I’ve let down the University of Arkansas, my team, coaching staff and everyone associated with the Razorback football program. As a result of my personal mistakes, we will not get to finish our goal of building a championship program. I wish that I had been given the opportunity to meet with the players and staff prior to this evening’s press conference and hope that I will be given the opportunity to give my apologies and say my goodbyes in person. We have left the program in better shape than we found it and I want the Razorback Nation to know that it is my hope that the program achieves the success it deserves."

"My sole focus at this point is trying to repair the damage I’ve done to my family. They did not ask for any of this and deserve better. I am committed to being a better husband, father and human being as a result of this and will work each and every day to prove that to my family, friends and others."

"I love football. I love coaching. I of course hope I can find my way back to the profession I love. In the meantime, I will do everything I can to heal the wounds I have created."

"I want to thank Chancellor Gearhart, Jeff Long, the Board of Trustees, the University administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni and fans for the opportunity to serve as the head football coach at the University of Arkansas for the past 4 years. I was not given an opportunity to continue in that position. I wish that had been the case, but that was not my decision. I wish nothing but the best for the Razorback football program, the University and the entire Razorback Nation."

I think the statement was extremely well crafted. It accepts responsibility without casting dispersions or belaboring differences. I would assume it was created by a PR professional raher than Petrino himself.

Those who can, do; those who can't, coach; those who never could, complain about the first two.

On the other hand, he made it sound like the AD's "views" weren't completely correct, as if he (BP) had more lies to shoot off.

Also, made it sound like, because he was fired, Arkansas will not compete for a NC anymore.

He's still a pig. But just said what he HAD to say. JMO.

...but I can't seem to find the words to say anything to Ms. Darrell.

    Good riddance,
