I'd wait until after the season, see how Smart does after losing all that talent, see how Briles does after losing all that talent, see how Malzahn does in his first year, see how Diaz does with such high expectations, see how Freeze's spread does in the SEC, etc.

Briles does have to prove himself. He caught the perfect storm last year.

Not sure how high you're expecting Baylor to climb, but I'd say taking Baylor to back-to-back bowl games for only the fourth time in its history and the first time in roughly 20 years proved something. He has half of their Big 12 conference wins despite only coaching a quarter of their Big 12 existence. I think he's proven plenty having turned two programs around in his first two coaching stops.
