The place to talk about the Texas Longhorns
The place for off topic discussion on Hookem
You have no favorite boards.
It has to be inconsistent coaching and preparation. A team does not load the field up with 4 and 5 star athletes, and then have them play like the Washington Generals. These young men are not ready to play for 60 minutes when they hit the field. Something is rotten and it starts at the top and it needs to be fixed now. Every minute this condition exists in Austin, we will get further and further behind. If I were a prospect looking at programs, i would look at the local teams headed to the BCS, etc, and think twice about playing for Mr. Hand clapper.
Some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you.

No Coach, you shut down their offense, force TOs, Outs. At least hold them down further than your offense. You don't have the mentality of, "You (have to) keep matching them." That is a defeatist attitude. That "my offense can not, or will not control the LOS, TOP, play error free", along with a stifling defense. That is a defeatist attitude before you walk on the field. Sorry I don't buy all the excuses. It's about having that "Killer Instinct." A Championship program has to have the attitude of walking on that field knowing that it can defeat any team on any day.
I guarantee you, Coach Royal had that Championship, Killer Instinct.
"Don't know. Never had one"
-- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season
Mack is too nice of a guy. Any real coach with any sense as to what the hell is going on with his defense and his program would make some drastic changes to save his job. Mack should fire Manny now or should have done it before. I am sure anyone on that staff could do a better job than him. Mack needs to realize that the game has passed him by. Same age as Nick Saban, yet they both look 30 years apart. Mack is worn out, out of shape, and old. He needs to dig inside and find that respect for the university that he talks so much about. He knows that DKR told him to get out when the wins only work to heal the losses. He knows he is done. His ego is too big at this point. He wants to go at the top. I just don't see him doing that next year, either.
The point about the DB not reading the key is more than a Manny issue. That is Duane's area of responsibility. The LB's are Manny's and we have seen all year the failures at that position. The overhaul needs to start at the top though.
Texasman, must be even more frustrating to you. Thanks for your insight.
