Thanks for the reassurance, but the 12/21/12 threat is based on the end date of the Long Count which is measured independently of a solar year. Every 13 baktuns led the end of a failed world. This repeated 3 times and the fourth world was successful and humans were placed in it. Each baktun is 144,000 days, which is about 394 years, but not exactly. Tomorrow will be the end of the 13th baktun since the creation of the fourth world.

The December 2012 Solstice is almost upon us and I would like to discuss it a bit for those who are unsure about its significance. There is a lot of what I consider to be misinformation and misinterpretation out there about it. The reason for this is both ignorance and/or an intention to misrepresent something very powerful and transformative as something that is instead dark and dangerous.
I am by no means an expert, but my own metaphysical experiences and research gives me some foundational knowledge to apply to what others say about this significant day and its implications. I feel the need to write this in order to help others take advantage of what I see to an auspicious opportunity. My intention is meant to provide some information that I have learned in the hopes that people can utilize it to the best of their abilities and with righteous intentions at heart.
3 Questions I Want to Answer:
What is the Winter Solstice and Why is it Important? Why is the 2012 Winter Solstice Especially Significant? What Can One do to Utilize the Powerful Energy of This Time Period?
1. What is the Winter Solstice and Why is it Important?
The winter solstice takes place on December 21st or 22nd of each year. It is the shortest day of the year, and the day does not begin getting longer again until December 25th. Metaphorically, Dec 25th is the day that the sun (or in many mythologies, the “son”) is “reborn” once again.
The sun is essential to all life on Earth, and understanding its patterns is particularly important for agriculture. All ancient civilizations depended on agriculture to feed the people. Therefore they revered (not worshipped) the sun and its life-giving energy (called “Ra”, “Prana”, “Chi”, “Life-force” in different traditions) as being an animator of life and life-sustaining activities, such as agriculture. In many cultures, it was during the solstice that the crops were harvested and the community had to plan how it would be allocated during the following year in order to be sure there was enough to last.
This is a very important time of year for energetic reasons as well. The solar energy emitted onto Earth is similarly very receptive and conducive to planning for the year to come MENTALLY and ENERGETICALLY. It is a time for self-reflection, planning and setting forth one’s intentions for the year to come.
In other words, whatever you’re thoughts and intent is focused on at this time, it will be empowered by this energy. If you are skeptical about the notion that cosmic entities affect us on Earth, just think about how the cycles of the moon, which is an entity smaller than the Earth, controls the Earth’s ocean’s tides, as well as women’s menstrual cycles. Why wouldn’t the sun, which is much larger than the Earth, have an effect as well?
It might help to think about it this way: our thoughts are the seeds, the emotional energy you invest in the thoughts is the fertilizer and water, and all of this activity is empowered by the energy emitted by the sun and the rest of the cosmos. Just as the health of a crop depends of the type of work one puts in during the planting, as well as its access to sunlight, so too are your life’s consequences determined by the quality of energy and effort you invested (especially at this time) coupled with your absorption of cosmic energy.
So, during this time of year, one should strive by all means to surround him or her self with positivity and loving energy. One should strive to think only thoughts and speak only words that are beneficial to one’s self and to others. This energy is neutral – it will empower whatever each person puts forth into the atmosphere. It is your investment, and will bring forth dividends.
2. Why is the Winter Solstice of 2012 Especially Significant?
The ancient Maya of Meso-America, similar to other ancient civilizations such as Egypt and Nubia, possessed a very sophisticated and multi-layered calendar. They identified what is called the “Great Year”, which is a 26,000-year Earth cycle. Each of the 12 parts of this cycle last for about 2,160 years, and each is symbolized by one of the 12 zodiacs, which is representative of a different type of energy pattern. Currently we are in the process of leaving the age of Pisces and entering the age of Aquarius, which is marked by transformation and shift (it is disputed on exactly what date the shift began and will end, but we are definitely in the transition now).
The Maya identified Dec 21, 2012 as the end of one cycle, which is always accompanied by the beginning of a new cycle (again, we are glossing over a lot of details). According to creative artist and specialist in Mayan cosmology, Mikuak Rai (listen to his recent radio interview), the Mayan priests prophesized or warned that if humanity as a collective did not shift to a higher level of being by this day, then there would be dire consequences.
On Dec 21, 2012, the Earth will join a galactic alignment, meaning that it will be aligned with the entire sun and other planets in the Milky Way. I am not an astronomer and won’t attempt to discuss this further, but this is an accepted fact. According to many, this occurs ONCE every 26,000 years.
Brother Rai explains that December 21-24, 2012 will be a time in which cosmic energy will be emitted onto the Earth that can empower those who are doing the internal work necessary to become more conscious of our oneness with the universe. So, this is the opportunity of a lifetime (or many lifetimes, to say the least).
The Western media has incited great fear in many people, as it always does, and many have misinterpreted this time to be one in which the world will end. As I understand it, this time (the solstice and the years prior and following) is prophesized to be the end of the world as we know it, which means we have to change our way of being. It does not mean the end of life.
In another recent radio interview, astrologist and Minister David “the Wizard” Hurt of the Institute of Spiritual Enlightenment in Washington, D.C. speaks about this change and the need to learn to live in the moment and let go of all the psychological and mental/emotional baggage that we have created over this and previous lifetimes and carry daily. Those who cling to the baggage that they believe define their sense of identity will suffer as humanity moves on. (We are just scratching the surface of a much broader discussion. If you are curious, then dig deeper!)
What is most important is what we do with the information that we know for sure. What we know for sure is:
A global shift of consciousness is occurring, with a concentrated window of cosmic opportunity occurring Dec 21-24, 2012.
These are cosmic dynamics that affect everything on Earth, and cannot be changed by any of us. We must evolve (NOW, which is the only time that exists), and align with this energy.
There are definite activities and practices that can help us align with this empowering energy. See below for suggestions. Keep in mind that these types of practices should be engaged in at all times, but it is especially important during this time period.
3. What Can One do to Utilize the Powerful Energy of This Time Period?
Note: The solstice occurs at 11:11 am UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), which is 6:11 am EST (5:11 am CST, 4:11 am MST, 3:11 am PST). This is the most important moment during the solstice, but the following is to be applied throughout December 21-24.
General Solstice Activities/Suggestions:
Meditate, Meditate, Meditate. Quiet your mental chatter with meditation, or meditative practices such as qi gong, tai chi, yoga, etc. Did I mention meditate?
Avoid Negative people and situations. I suggest taking off of work in most instances, as other people’s energy can rub off on you or affect your emotional/mental state. As Mikuak Rai said, it is all about “HOW you are” during this time, and not so much where or who you are with. However, unless you are highly evolved, where you are and who you are with has a great impact on your own state of being. So stay where you are in control of your surroundings.
Conduct a Media Cleanse. Stay away from media: smart phones, TV, Internet, etc. as much as possible for similar reasons as stated in the previous point. Do you want an advertisement telling you what to think at this time?
Reflect. Take time to examine your own fears and areas of improvement without judgement; do this as if you were a 3rd party. It may help to actually think and speak in the 3rd person to remind yourself that these things are not you, but things that you have allowed to become a part of your behavior pattern. This is a step toward disconnecting from these self-destructive patterns.
Wear Natural Fabric such as 100% cotton or wool. Synthetic fibers, such as polyester or nylon, will block the energy transmission between you and the Cosmos.
Fast or Eat Minimally and Energetically. Allow your body to be able to absorb the energy we discussed most efficiently. You don’t want your digestive system diverting energy to process and break down food. So, fast or eat very lightly, or at least eat what is least taxing on your digestive system (i.e. raw foods and liquids and small portions).
Drink Structured Water. Structured water has been infused with your intentions to become more dynamic and nourishing. This can be done by simply putting the water in glass and speaking and thinking your specific intentions into the water. For example, speaking loving words to the water and posting loving words onto the bottle raises its vibration to become more nourishing. (See Masaru Emoto’s book The Miracle of Water.)
Slow Down and LIVE in the Moment. Don’t over think anything, don’t stress out about anything that is not life-threatening or dangerous to your health.
Conduct Rituals to acknowledge gratitude for the sun, your ancestors, your family, your teachers, your life, etc. A ritual can be as simple as a vocal statement to yourself or to others, and as extensive as ceremony and libation.
Program Your Intentions:
* Lower: Focus on achieving goals for yourself, family, community, career, etc.
* Higher: Focus on world peace and harmony, healing of societal wounds, etc.
How to Program Intentions
Use Affirmation Statements to intentionally focus on what you desire to see happen. These desires should be righteous. For example, repeat the phrase: “I am love, I am light, I am Peace, I am Joy. I am protected. I am complete. I am Divine. ”If you intentionally use this energy to bring harm to another entity, the energy will come back to hurt you as well.
Look at your Vision Board that showcases the aforementioned higher and lower intentions, as much as possible. (Spend time creating one if you don’t have a vision board).
Engage in creative activities oriented toward helping others.
Activities Specific to the 2012 Winter Solstice:
Participate in the Global Candle Lighting: Light a white candle at 6:11 am EST (5:11 am CST, 4:11 am MST, 3:11 am PST, 11:11 am UTC) in a show of oneness with humanity. (See instructions here.)

Focus on world peace and harmony with the millions of others who are doing so during this time. Its been proven that when many people focus on something, it has a huge impact.
Watch the World Unity 2012 Live Broadcast from the ancient complex of Chichen Itza in the Yucatán (the “center of Mayan cosmology”).

Watch Energy Transmission Video. I’ve been told, the Template Organization “specializes in transmitting codes” from the Cosmos that will be emitted during the solstice. So this should enhance your absorption of the data encoded in the energy.

* Connection to Earth, all creatures & the cosmos; oneness of existence.
* Desire and willingness to evolve and spiritually grow.
