Despite the 4 picks I think Mccoy is the best option at qb and should be the guy next year, I think you can win with him despite his limitations. You can't ask him to score 40 and overcome 11 penalties and with the running backs and 4 starters back in the offensive line next year he shouldn't. I like the 3 down's he converted and the off schedule plays he makes (like the pitch to hills) he was just asked to do to much this game.
We were getting jobbed quite a bit by the refs. Enough said.
Something tells me Mack won't be called Coach Blood.
Griffin is a stud. Best deep passer I think I've ever seen. Also a drama queen. Wish we recruited him anyway.
We couldn't get a lot of clean shots on Griffin or Ganaway.
Blake Gideon and C. Scott have one game of eligibility left.
I like the throwback to Poehlman.
You're not going to win a lot of games handing off to a FB and a RB who's lower on the depth chart than....a FB.
Goodwin flashed his speed, and dropped a perfectly thrown and badly needed TD. I'm afraid he'll never be much more than a gimmick player. A legit stud athlete and usually a warrior on the field, but not much of a true WR.
Ship moves pretty well on one leg.
Maybe 5 wides wasn't a great call, but Case has to understand that you have about two beats and then need to scramble when you're cut blocking to both sides (not great cut blocks at that. The ball was meant to be out quick on that play.
I think we all knew that Case would try that pass over the LB's and in front of the safety one too many times. Can't blame him. It was a deep well.
Two picks were because Case has bad fundamentals or not enough arm to squeeze the ball in when he makes an iffy decision.
Irby be balling.
Once again our safeties can't get to the flat in the cover 3. 3 plays in a row. We'll we ever play a really good zone defense?
The defensive line was game early.
Hard to believe that we don't have any form of hurry up offense.
8-5 feels almost as hollow as 7-6 at this point. Knew it was coming. Doesn't change the disappointment.
I really have to get into broadcasting. It's laughable how poorly informed the announcers are on a game by game basis. Do they even watch any film prior to the actual game, I know it's tough calling a game per week, or is it all a cliff notes rundown from some low level lackey and media guide.
Off to watch OU and OSU play for the conference title. Again.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
Well said Bobby. I think it still comes down to the QB position in the end as you mention. Turnovers are the great equalizer no matter how many yards you put up. If we don't have someone running this offense that is capable of being consistent under center, were going to experience the same kind of result next season. We certainly may improve with the talent that we have coming in, but will never be able to achieve the goals that Texas wants to get back too in the near term (winning a conference championship or a BCS championship). That will require a QB that can lead this team to victories when were playing from behind or facing the kind of adversity that we have battled with this year. We clearly don't have that right now in Case or Ash. As I mentioned on another thread, unfortunately we will end this season as it began with respect to the QB position; asking a whole lot of questions without a whole hell of a lot of answers. Hopefully that changes as we move forward and with the addition of Brewer and the off season development of either Case or Ash. I remain hopeful, but certainly not confident.
"Pavlov was this scientist guy, you know, and every time this dog would ring a bell, Pavlov would eat."
god enough with the M.Thompson at QB. goodness what makes you decide he can play and dont use "he cant be worse than anything we got" line. Im not a fan of Case but in HS he took Graham to the State Title game and Ash brought Belton out of the basement and to the playoffs for the first time in along time. If Ash can gain some confidence during the spring then I think he can be the answer. Maybe not a NC but a guy you have to respect. If not maybe Case can be a table setter but thats his ceiling
- God Bless Texas
