One more question. With open scholarships and signing period starting tomorrow why have they not looked to Junior College or transferring players to sign to play next year?
Love to see another Wacker on the hard court if he's cut from the same cloth.
Jordan, these questions have been asked before. AAU basketball is pretty corrupt in Texas at least so sifting through all the asking hands is a challenge for people without the last name Drew. In addition, even when we had Kevin Durrant our crowds were quite often lame. Our fanbase is unhappy. Our players are unhappy, Our coach is unhappy. Kids in Texas that are upper echelon want to be where basketball is king and they know Texas is not that place. It would have to be one hell of a hire to find a coach that can change that perception here at Texas. I am really hoping Barnes is taking some notes from Mack Brown and the efforts he is making recruiting wise to overcome the adversity he has been facing of late.
Guys I have heard this all before and having played high school basketball in Texas and watching it for over 25 years plus watching the rise of AAU I think I have a pretty good handle of the situation. Losing and a lack of interest makes sense but corruption in AAU is not something that will prevent EVERY five star recruit in the state of Texas from coming to UT. Coaches play a big part in telling their player where they can benefit the most at. Who they can trust the most and where they can learn the most. That is all on Coach Barnes, he has not developed any substantial relationships with high school coaches who often have outstanding players come through their high schools. You can't just automatically assume that the player doesn't want to come to Texas because his PEOPLE have already told him to go to Baylor. I would think some kids have good parents looking out for them as well as mentors who have their best interest at heart. They want them to go to the best university for them both academically and athletically. We can't just see a player is from a certain area and assume that we have no chance to sign him because other players in that area are already told where they can and can't go. Some of these kids do have something called character. Losing and bad coaching is correct but corruption everywhere is BS. It's a big state that is producing more and more great talent each year and you let Coach Barnes off the hook when you say he can't get this kid because all kids from this area are essential bought to go elsewhere.
Wacker playing as a sophomore in a playoff game. 33 in red winning the tap and getting the offensive rebound and put back on the first possession.
I haven't found any 2013 game tape of any length yet. Sophomore HS year stuff is a problematic measure of how good a player might turn out. Anyone remember the Greece U16 game against Bulgaria that I posted during Papapetrou's recruitment? Or the video of Lammert dunking as a 15 year old?

so what Gerry is saying is that Cam Ridley will basically be the last five star recruit from the state of Texas that Rick Barnes will ever get.
I don't get the AAU excuses when we were hand in hand with Ro Russell and Grassroots.
