? about what Urban Meyer said

  • He mentioned how the coaching staff had said they have the hope that Malcolm can come in and take over Cody's role, moving Cody to a FB/RB position. I assume that Urban has some depth of incite into the team based on that, with the addition to being around the program and having discussions with coaches recently. When he said he thinks Gilbert is our starting QB next year, does he base that judgement on sheer observation? Or does he have additional information? maybe the coaches hopes of who they want to see play QB..

    Maybe wrong, there was just something about the sly way he said it with so much confidence.

  • IMO, Meyer's comments were based on his limited observations. That said, our own coaching staff's observations are somewhat limited. This will play out into the fall. And I have faith that the most effective guy will win the job.

    I agree 100%. I bet we hear chatter from now until fall on a solidified depth chart that won't even exist until fall.

    Urban Meyer probably still has nightmares about Marcus Lattimore, who has a similar body type to Malcolm. 40 carries, 212 yards, 3 TDs against Florida.

    Meyer and Mack are good friends. I'm guessing Mack told him that GG is going to be the guy no matter what so please hype the crap out of him during the spring game so it isn't a bombshell when he takes the first snap against Rice.

    I do not see that happening at all. Meyer just stated what he saw, and was critical of GG after his pick, but also spoke highly of him for the rest of the scrimmage.

    gilbert conspiracy theories are always fun to laugh at. Did Mack tell Meyer to say UT will win 10 games next year too even though that just puts the pressure on considering someone of Meyer's coaching caliber said this?

  • Unless they find a fix at QB, I don't see how the Horns win 10 this year.

    Great front 7 on D, improving OL and receiving corps, but no QB and limited threats on offense. It's possible but I just didn't see it yesterday.

  • I did agree with Urban that you can NOT split the QB reps evenly between 4 QB's. You are installing a brand new offense. You need to pick 2 QB's and give them the majority of the reps.
