Marquis Goodwin is officially an Olympian.

Congrats to the young man. As of right now, Goodwin has one of the top three jumps in the world going into the Olympics.

Just showed MG's final jump on TV, winning the long-jump... then NBC showed him throwing his horns up and bowing to the crowd! Way to go Marquise...
Of course he was in Burnt Orange track shorts & tank top with TEXAS in white, block letters.

Saw that too. And he was rocking the burnt orange track gear. Was MG already on the team before that last jump or did the last jump (which took 1st) put him on the team?? If the latter, what a clutch and huge moment for the guy!

Daniel, He was 2nd before that last attempt so he was already on the team, but after leading for almost the entire day, it would have been pretty disappointing to finish second I'm sure.

As for summer workouts, those will be non-existent till he gets back from London... from the ESPN HornsNation page...
"Texas opens fall camp on Aug. 2. Goodwin’s qualifying round in London is Aug. 3. The long jump finals are the following day.
From there, Goodwin will hop on a plane and rejoin his Texas teammates on the practice field.
“He’s been a guy that’s handled both sports very well, and that’s a difficult thing to do,” Texas coach Mack Brown said earlier this month. “Unlike last year, he can get back pretty soon and still have some preseason work before we open up the first ballgame.” "
