HUMBLE, Texas - The 3A and 5A Region III track meet wrapped up on Saturday with the finals of the running events and the remainder of the field events. In the 3A ranks, future Texas slot receiver Kendall Sanders (Athens) competed in the long jump, while Texas commitment Ricky Seals-Jones (Sealy) did the same in the high jump.
For the 6-foot-1, 188-pound Sanders, he qualified for regionals in the long jump and high jump, but a tender groin kept him from competing in both events. Sanders made the most of his opportunity in the long jump, leaping 22-feet-1.75 to take second and qualify for the May 11-12 Track and Field State Meet in Austin.
Seals-Jones, who ran in the 4x200 relay on Friday, finished third in the high jump going out at 6-foot-3.
Here is a look at the talented duo in action.
