Texas hosts UT Arlington (3-0) tonight at 6 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The mid-week game comes on the heels of the Horns opening up their season taking two of three games against Sacramento State. Over the weekend Texas showed that is has some things to iron out - namely fielding and relief pitching - but it also showed signs of a team that can compete with some the elite teams in the country once it hits its stride.
Texas started off well in the batter's box, hitting .347 as a team and registering a .417 on-base percentage over the three games. The Horns also showed they have tremendous team speed with seven stolen bases, more than doubling their per-game average of stolen base from a year ago (2.33 to 1.12) in the small sample size.
Tonight the Longhorns will send out true freshman Chad Hollingsworth to start against a Mavericks squad coming off a three-game sweep of Louisiana Tech. The Waco Robinson product appeared in Saturday's loss to Sac State. He faced two batters in the top of the ninth inning, walking his first and striking out the second.
Hookem.com will be in attendance tonight to give you live updates as the Horns look to move to 3-1 to start the 2013 season.
