District play is in full swing across the state of Texas. Several future Longhorns take to the gridiron this weekend with battles for playoff positioning already underway.

Guyer plays rival
Denton Guyer (2-2) and quarterback commit Jerrod Heard will face their rival Denton High (2-2) on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. The game will be at the C.H. Collins Athletic Complex.
Cuney gets back to work
The Longhorns’ lone offensive line commitment for 2014, Terrell Cuney, and the Jasper Bulldogs (1-2) got some rest last week with their bye week, but they go back to work as they travel to Bridge City (1-3). It starts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Newton continuing to dominate
Newton (4-0) and running back commit Kevin Shorter have been showing everyone why they are considered the No. 2 team in the state. They'll most likely do so again this Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to Kirbyville.
Catalon, Eisenhower looking to build off last week
The state’s top running back – Texas commit Donald Catalon – and Aldine Eisenhower (1-4) got their first victory last week and want to build on that this week. Eisenhower plays Alief Hastings, who is also 1-4, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Foreman brothers have tough test ahead
Wide receiver commit Armanti Foreman and running back commit D’Onta Foreman of Texas City (4-0) look to continue their impressive season thus far, but it’s going to be much tougher this week. They’ll face off against a 4-0 Pearland Dawson team, but do get them at home on Friday night.
Longview gets some rest
Texas wide receiver commit Dorian Leonard and the Longview Lobos (4-1) have the week off.
Big rivalry week for Joe, McMillon
Abilene Cooper (3-2) and Texas wide receiver commit Lorenzo Joe, who plays quarterback for Cooper, play crosstown rival Abilene High (1-4) this week. The Eagles feature Texas defensive end commit Jake McMillon. That game will be played at Shotwell Stadium on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Gray travels to Cedar Park
Wide receiver commit Garrett Gray and the Todd Dodge-coached Marble Falls Mustangs (2-2) head to Cedar Park on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
Porter, Lincoln hoping to continue winning trend
Dallas Lincoln (2-2) and Emmanuel Porter have now won two in a row and this week will play Dallas Wilson (3-1) while looking to break .500. Friday’s 7:30 p.m. contest will take place at Pleasant Grove Stadium in Dallas.
Bernard, Sharpstown host Wheatley
Wide receiver commit Roderick Bernard and Sharpstown (2-3) hope to break even beginning on Thursday when they host Houston Wheatley beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Roberson and Brennan still undefeated
Defensive end Derick Roberson and San Antonio Brennan (5-0) want to continue their perfect record and should do so when they take on San Antonio Brackenridge (3-2) on Saturday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Lealaimatafao, Warren steadily improving
San Antonio Warren (3-2) continues to play better each week and should win their Thursday night matchup against San Antonio Holmes, who has yet to win a game this season. Trey Lealaimatafao and the Warriors get things started at 7:00 p.m.
Teuhema brothers, Keller play Keller Central
The brother duo of 2014 defensive end Sione Teuhema and 2015 offensive lineman Maea Teuhama of Keller High (3-1), lost their first game last week against Justin Northwest. They're looking to rebound this week when they play a 1-3 Keller Central team at the Keller I.S.D. Athletic Complex on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
Alaka, Cy Falls host Langham Creek
Cypress Falls and linebacker commit Otaro Alaka won their first game last week and will try to beat Langham Creek (2-2) this week when they play on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
Carter has away game
Linebacker Cameron Hampton and the Dallas Carter Cowboys (4-0) will be on the road, but won’t go too far as they travel to Kincaide Stadium on Friday to play Dallas Adamson (3-1) at 7:30 PM.
Sherman plays Denison
Sherman (2-2) and offensive lineman Aaron Garza won their second game of the season last week, finally breaking even, and look to build on that against a 2-2 Denison team this week at Bearcat Stadium in Sherman. That game starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Lanfear, Hays host Tivy
The Hays Rebels and offensive line commit Connor Lanfear will host Kerrville Tivy (1-4) on Friday night at 7:30. Hays is now 3-1 after their win last week.
Vahe, Trinity hopes to win yet again this week
Patrick Vahe and the Euless Trinity Trojans (2-2) will face Irving MacArthur, who is also 2-2, on the road at Irving Schools Stadium on Thursday night, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Coutee and Lufkin have bye week
Wide receiver commit KeKe Coutee and Lufkin (1-4) get some needed rest by having a bye week.
Test ahead for Shaw, WOS
West Orange-Stark (3-1) and Johnny Shaw will face off against Hardin Jefferson (3-1) on Friday at home. That game starts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Defensive back Jalen Campbell’s Corpus Christi Flour Bluff team will play this week but he won’t. The 2015 standout is out indefinitely after tearing his ACL in the spring.
Hemphill, Manvel looking for another win
The Longhorns' only 2016 commit Reggie Hemphill and Manvel (3-1) faceoff with a 1-3 Alvin team at Memorial Stadium on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
