Longhorn Round-Up presented by My Chihuahua Bites Salsa with Hookem.com is back again in this weekly podcast.

In this week's episode the guys talk about Mack Brown's 2013 recruiting class.

The team of Hookem.com's Jeff Howe, Austin radio veteran Matt Butler and lifetime Longhorn, six-year NFL veteran and current sideline reporter for Texas Longhorns football Rod Babers take Longhorn fans through more than an hour of nothing but Longhorn football talk.

This week the guys break down Texas’ 2013 recruiting class, discussing each signee and sharing their opinions on what they expect from the players next season.

They also talk about how they feel Texas’ depth chart will look in the spring at the wide receiver and offensive line positions.

Blake Munroe also joins the show to share what he encountered at the A’Shawn Robinson signing ceremony. He paraphrased the setting as “quite possibly one of the most strangest experiences I’ve ever had in my life when it comes to football”.

In addition to that, Jeff bombards Rod and Matt with national signing day related questions in the last ever version of “The Blitz”.

Also, Rod explains who is has been the most important recruit of the Mack Brown era.

  • This was an amusing episode. I again will note that the ITunes download (especially on the now required podcast app) does not work. It shows that the last few episodes are only one minute long and they error out rather than download that. The last one that worked was January 25th and the two before that did not work.

I can download using the link above fine, but the controls are not as handy.

  • Thank you rozell99.... I will notify itunes of the problem. Coincidentally, we are re-branding the show so I will have to update every aspect of our itunes agreement. Therefore this should not be a problem next week, hopefully.

Glad you enjoyed the show too.

  • Our impromptu interview with Blake about A'Shawn Robinson's signing ceremony was hilarious. It is a must listen (38:21). I am going to scour the interwebs today to try to find video of it. I'll post it in this thread if I do so.

  • Rod shared some really great information in this episode.

His "Overtime" on the most important recruit of the Mack Brown era is a must listen (around the 69-minute mark).

He also had some entertaining info regarding his national signing day ceremony (around the 6:30 mark) and about being the best recruiting host during his playing days at Texas (around the 9:35 mark).

  • This episode was the first time in a long while that Jeff got to talk about recruiting. Our discussion about the defensive signees and how they will affect Texas' depth chart next season was one of my favoites parts of the show. We shift to the topic around the 20-minute mark. Jeff also gives his take on Montrel Meander around the 36:30 mark.

  • I'd be interested in hearing what recruit Longhorns fans think will have the biggest impact on Texas football over the next four to five years.

  • I really think the re-infusion of the FLEX position could really help the offense create mismatches at times in games this upcoming season. I really like the idea of using John Harris at the position because of his ability to line up in WR positions. Eliminating the need for substituting in a FLEX player helps create these mismatches because the defense can not substitute and the defense will not know exactly where Harris will be lining up until he is at the LOS.
