LHR pres My Chihuahua Bites Salsa

The Longhorn Round-Up presented by My Chihuahua Bites Salsa with Hookem.com is back, tackling some of the hottest topics relating to Longhorn sports and recruiting in this weekly podcast.

Texas Longhorns

This week's Longhorn Round-Up hits the biggest recruiting stories, the latest from practice and catches up with former Longhorn Cory Redding.

The team of Hookem.com's Jeff Howe and Austin radio veteran Matt Butler take Longhorn fans through more than an hour of nothing but Longhorn news and notes.

This week on the show, the guys talk about the detailed reports Hookem.com has gathered from Texas football's fall camp. In addition to that, there are plenty of recruiting tidbits including some out-of-state nuggets and a few details on the top basketball recruit in the nation for the 2013 class.

Like every week there are ten quick-hitting Longhorn questions in “The Blitz”.

Plus, Cory Redding joins the guys for “Gridiron Talk”. Cory shares stories about his playing days at Texas, his opinion on some of the new coaches at Texas and he tells us what it takes to be a really good defensive lineman.

I second that. A lot of great insight regarding playing as an underclassman, and on the Texas coaching staff.

    • I hate when any one of you guys aren't on the podcast. You work so well as the 3 man wolfpack. Hopefully that is not taken the wrong way. It is a compliment to the whole and not at all an insult to the job any of you do individually. Great show as usual though. Can't wait until we start getting 2 a week. Best news in the podcast. Matt, thanks for booking C Redd. Great interview. Jeff, great point in overtime. I never looked at it like that. Like Matt I thought Wisky was the team you were going to name when u gave the tease at the top of the show.

    • And here is Cory's front-flipping 22-yard interception return for touchdown to open the emotional "Cole Pittman tribute" game from the 2001 season which Texas won 44-14.

The play starts at the 13:24 mark.

Not taken as an insult whatsoever. I think the some is great with all three of us in the room and Rod brings an energy and enthusiasm that is contagious. And regarding the interview, anytime. The thanks goes to C-Redd for taking the time to come on the show. We are in the process of possibly making the special guest interview a weekly feature.

    • I thought it would only make sense to post this game as well.

We have talked a lot in past podcasts about how, historically, it has been tough for Texas to travel to Manhattan to play Kansas State. Actually, the only time Texas has won in Manhattan under Mack Brown was in 2002 when Cory Redding was on the field alongside Rod Babers.

The highlights are below and it is safe to say that Cory played a big role in the Horns 17-14 victory at No. 17 Kansas State (seven tackles, two sacks, four TFLs, five QB pressures, one forced fumble).

I guess I am into self-mutilation because I don't have LHN either. That is why I was scouring the internet hoping to find anything fresh from the Horns coaches outside of the normal press availabilites.
