Ivan Williams was fast enough to return kickoffs. His problem seemed to be that he'd trip over a dime in open field.

Ivan was fine once he got started, as you point out though, he didn't have the abilty to change direction for anything. I don't disagree re; Bergeron by the way.

I don't compare Ivan at the second level to Joe Bergeron. Not sure who has or did, but it wasn't me.
Bergeron is a better runner than Ivan ever was IMO. He's much quicker through the hole and much more difficult to tackle one on one. Ivan had no go-to move and just had a decent size-speed combo with a pretty good heart
Bergeron can take away a leg from a defender, has very good balance IMO and can still run over folks.
I'm not saying Joe Bergeron is the second coming of Earl Campbell but he reminds me more athletically of Butch Hadnot than he does Ivan Williams.
Again, this is my opinion and not the gospel. But I seem to like Bergeron more than most on this site.
