He committed. But then Mack Brown and his mom wanted his parents to sign off on the pledge before it could be official.
It's been a whirlwind week since wide receiver Emanuel Porter of Dallas Lincoln put on quite a show at the Texas summer camp on June 9.
But just six days later, he's officially committed to the Longhorns.
Porter and his family made the call to the Texas coaching staff Saturday afternoon and committed to the Longhorns.
Porter, who is 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, caught 29 balls for 421 yards last season in his first year playing football. Porter is an accomplished basketball player as well and also anchors the Lincoln 4x100- and 4x200-meter relay teams which both placed at the state track meet.
Porter ran a 4.45-second 40-yard dash at the Longhorns' camp last weekend and in the camp's morning session gave every defensive back in attendance fits trying to cover him because of his long frame and explosive athleticism.
His pledge gives the Longhorns five receivers so far in the 2014 recruiting class. He joins Garrett Gray of Marble Falls, Roderick Bernard of Houston Sharpstown, Dorian Leonard of Longview and Lorenzo Joe of Abilene Cooper.
