Davis to step down

Texas offensive coordinator Greg Davis is expected to resign later today.

Davis has been the coordinator at Texas for 13 seasons under Mack Brown, including the national championship in 2005.

Davis is a 33-year college coaching veteran, including previous stops at North Carolina, Georgia, Tulane, Texas A&M and Arkansas.

Davis served the dual role of quarterbacks coach at Texas, where he mentored and developed players such as Vince Young, Colt McCoy, Chris Simms and Major Applewhite.

Update at 1:37 CT: According to sources, Greg Davis has resigned. UT spokesperson John Bianco did not confirm the report and told Randy Riggs of the Austin American-Statesman he expects no announcement today.

Update at 4:50 CT: Greg Davis told the Statesman he has not resigned and will continue to evaluate his position along with Mack Brown when Brown returns from New York. Davis said any announcement would come from the Texas sports information department.
